This 1965 356C is a two owner ruby red survivor that had a recent mechanical refurbishment. The car was sold new by Pete Lovely Porsche in Tacoma Washington. It was then purchased in 1968 in Seattle Washington by the longtime 2nd owner, who was an engineer at Boeing. He moved to Idaho in 1970 and continued to drive the 356 up until 1980 when he parked it because of brake issues. It was recently put back on the road after an almost 40 year slumber. Much of the work was performed by Adam Bruno from Bruno Enterprises. It received a full brake job including new master cylinder and rebuilt calipers all around. The fuel system was flushed and all new lines were installed. The Zenith carburetors were rebuilt. The fuel pump was replaced with a unit that was rebuilt by Ed Fall. All new Vredestein Sprint tires were installed on the original rims. The driver's seat bottom was recovered by Kris at Fine Auto Trim in Boise Idaho using the correct material. The car runs and drives well, with almost 400 miles since the refresh. The odometer shows 29193, which is 129193 miles on the car. The engine was refreshed sometime in the late '70s with a new set of pistons and cylinders. The engine and transmission are original to the car which is shown on the COA.
The body is largely original paint and has never had any metal replacement. There has been some minor paint blending done to the front fenders and left rear fender at some point in the 1970s. There are some small rust holes on the passenger side A pillar and B pillar. The longitudinals are solid, with only one tiny rust hole poking through. There are stone chips on the nose, as one would expect.. This car lived most of its life in a garage in the desert, and it shows. We went over the whole car with the paint meter, and the blended areas on the show only minor dent repair with no collision damage. All of the gaps are good and all the panels are original to the car. Plate and plate frame are original to the car. This 356 has a clean title.
Overall this is an honest original car that spent almost four decades hibernating. If you want to buy a nice original condition driver 356 like you could find back in 1980, this is the car for you. This is a turn key Porsche 356 with excellent patina and originality. It would be an easy restoration, but certainly does not to be restored. Please note that the car is located in Boise, ID.
