1985 911 Carrera Targa 3.2
Selling on my 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa.Guards’ red with tan leather and black carpet. 915 trans and the original 3.2-liter flat-six. Clean title, no accidents, no liens. Original manual, key, all the paperwork and receipts I have shown in photo.
The car has had lots of maintenance and work done in the last 4 years, over $20,000 of receipts.103,700 miles; I’ve added about 1,500 miles to it. I bought this almost 2 years ago for my collection, but I have an opportunity to get a Turbo, that frankly I’ll use a lot more, so I am moving it on.
Can’t watch this become a garage queen.Car starts and runs great. Gears shift nicely (work done on the transmission as detailed below) and overall, the car is blast to drive.
Below details the work done in last 4 years, as well as things to raise -
-A full brake overhaul with new pads, rotors, hoses, calipers, and master cylinder, as well as replacing the fuel pump, filters and sensors, spark plugs and wires, battery, windshield washer pump, and drive belts.
-Further brake work completed included replacing the brake booster and flushing the brake system.
- Engine out service and fitted a new clutch, rebuilding part of the transmission (1st / 2nd gears and synchro’s) and a full tune up, new plugs, filters, and oil change. The CV boots were also replaced during this time.
- Detailed paint correction in summer of 2022, and recently had a refresh correction done in July 2023 with a full ceramic coat with SystemX. There are some chips throughout as seen in the photos, as well as a dent / marking above the rear passenger side wheel arch from previous owner.
- Original exhaust was cracked so I replaced with a Fabspeed Supercup Exhaust System. It’s a muffler bypass system with 2 resonators, bolted directly onto the factory cat. A little lighter than the original, personally I love the sound.
- Momo steering wheel fitted, but the original also comes with it.
- Carbone frunk lining I fitted late 2022. The fit of them is not easy, it sits well but the side clips can pop undone.
- Re-skinned the Targa roof and replaced with a new foam backed headliner, it was an incredibly fiddly and annoying job; First and last for me, but it came out OK. Problem was the frame itself was damaged as seen in the photos. Targa Dan (in NJ) could sort this out, or if you’re handy yourself.
- Targa roll bar cover removed, professionally sand-blasted and powder coated. Original Targa emblems still on and it looks a lot better now than previously as it was badly chipped.
- Replaced original badly worn carpet with a carpet kit from Sierra Madre Collection.
- Ronal 16″ wheels with black center sections are mounted with 205/55 front and 225/50 rear Michelin Pilot Exalto tires (do not have the Fuchs, previous owned swapped)
- Wrapped the rear door cards, seat bottoms and rear shelf in black vinyl. The original ones are below in the original tan. Condition of originals is OK, several blemishes and marks. Rear seat backs I don’t have in the car, but they are in OK condition as also seen in photos.
- Replaced a host of locks, pins, dash bulbs and even the coat hook on the inside of the Targa bar.
- Fresh oil and battery put in the last few months and I’ll have fresh plugs and filters put on for the new owner prior to transfer.
I am more than happy to see peoples offers. Listing it here first, will go to BaT if not successful here.
It’s not concourse level, but it’s a great example and a solid driver with lots of maintenance. Fully welcome and encourage a PPI, just let me know if you want to schedule one in.
I can also help with shipping across the country or worldwide.
