1983 Porsche 944 Callaway Turbo Additional Info:
Hello fellow enthusiasts, up for sale is my 1983 Porsche Callaway 944 Turbo and was one of the handful of cars that was converted to turbo configuration at the Callaway factory in Old Lyme CT in 1984. Unfortunately, the original turbo application was not very reliable and the engine has been replaced with a factory 1986 951 engine and transaxle BUT still retains the Callaway Turbo manifold, IHI RHB6 turbo, and Callaway wastegate which is located on the right (passenger) side of the engine for quick spool and thus reduced turbo lag vs the factory 951's. The original Bosch microfueler is still behind the glovebox but is no longer used. In lieu of the added 5th injector/Microfueler an Electromotive Stand-Alone EMS system is in place with fully programmable EPROM using WINTEC software. This car is set up for hot street/DE/Autocross but has further potential in vintage racing. I have used it some PCA DE events and that was its purpose back in the 80's as well with prior owners. I am the 4th owner. Originally a TX car which the sun took a toll on that factory paint (see sunroof). The overlay paint was put on by 2nd owner as were most of the modifications to car. 3rd owner had it in Delaware but only used it once at track and then sold it to me on 10/27/2003 with a CLEAN TITLE. I really have not driven it much at all since 2009 but it was always garage kept. Reason for sale is I have a young family of 3 kids and they cannot fit in this car for many more years. Time and space push sale and it is my hope it can go to a fellow enthusiast who will appreciate it. have time for it, and enjoy this rare car.
