1965 Porsche 356 Additional Info:
1965 PORSCHE 356 1600C CABRIOLET w/HARDTOP
I would like to claim credit for finding this rare Porsche- but in reality it found me. “Oh Lord won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz, my friends all have Porsches, I must make amends” my band mate Michelle sang lustily at one of our gigs. It was surprising to the car- world when Janis Joplins' "HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE" 1964 356CCab sold for $1.7million this past December.
But this is a 1965 356C with the original very rare removable hardtop and BLAPUNKT radio! 1965 was the last year Porsche made the 356 named either for its sequential design production number or named for the office in Gmund. But surprising having been introduced in 1948 this car would be the very first Porsche bearing the Porsche name. The body was designed by Erwin Kommenda. Louise Piech-Dr. Ferdinand Porsche's daughter and Ferry Porsche were to carry the design ideas to their father at the Austrian prison where he landed near the end of WWII.
The original body color is Light Ivory. The black leather seats are still in decent condition. Two soft tops- one original on frame and one newer black soft top cover in box . The hardtop is surprisingly in good condition. Engine is in the car, but needs reassembly. 36,113 miles is showing on odometer?
This classic has roll down windows and who needs AC? Lots of rust and this car needs flooring, but there appears to be no rust through the rear torsion bar tubes!
This is an incredible project car!
