1972 Porsche 911 Additional Info:
Car is located in Hamilton, Ontario Canada (about 40 miles west of Toronto). I'll assist with export to the US, Europe or wherever. International and dealer purchasers welcome.
I've owned the car since 2004 and I'm familiar with almost every inch of the car. Pre-purchase inspections are welcome, at the buyer's expense. Clean title in hand.
-1972 ROW T with S options (aluminum front calipers, front spoiler), originally sold in Germany, imported to Canada in the early 80s-215,000 km (134k miles)-original #s matching 2.4L engine comes with the car, but is not currently installed, needs a rebuild (it was smoking and down on power when I removed it in 2009). Currently has a 1982 US 3.0L engine installed which I bought in 2011. It had 154k miles on it at the time, compression and leakdown at the time were 135, 140, 140, 135, 135, 135/10, 8, 7, 8, 7, 5 and no broken headstuds.-Weber carbs, professionally rebuilt in 2009.-refreshed interior 2011: new carpets, RS style door panel, seats from a mid-80s 944.-transmission rebuilt in 2008-all new shocks in 2005 (Bilstein sports)-22mm Weltmeister front sway bar installed 2009-lots of oil leaks fixed over the last 2 years including oil return tubes-professional valve adjustment last summer-MA Shaw fibreglass ducktail, original decklid comes with the car, though it's had holes drilled in it for a turbo tail by a previous owner.-SC flares added by a previous owner. Excellent welding work.-no structural rust - floors are solid, nothing around the windshield, etc. Floors are all solid.-meticulous maintenance since I've owned it - alternator, oil lines, brake fluid, fuel pump, wiring, etc. Tons of little things. Engine was out last summer to fix a bunch of little oil leaks.
The bad:-small bit of rust on the passenger side door which should be addressed sooner rather than later (see pic)-bit of rust under the battery. Hasn't changed at all since I bought the car, so probably not worth addressing.-hole in parcel shelf where I installed a child seat tether. (I did this before the car had significant value). Could be repaired, patched, have a speaker mounted there to hide it, or just replace the entire parcel shelf (about $200).-heater boxes are disconnected. I have replacement flapper boxes that will come with the car (the cable mounts on the old ones are shot), I just haven't had a chance to replace them yet.
When I say I'd drive it across the country, I mean it. We drove it to OK and back summer 2014 and NOLA and back last year. That's over 6000 miles in total.
This is not a show car, never has been, but nor is it a ratty dog. It could be restored to show-car level or just driven and enjoyed as-is. IMO it would be between a #2 and #3 on Hagerty's scale.
Vehicle is sold as-is. No warranty is offered. I've attempted to describe it as best as possible, but I'm not a mechanic, and I advise an independent mechanical inspection before purchase. You should be able to drive this car home anywhere in Canada or the US, but I don't guarantee anything. Deposit is due within 24 hours of auction close if reserve is met, Balance due within three days. If balance is not paid, the deposit is forfeited and the car will be relisted.
