1985 Porsche 944 Additional Info:
1985 1/2 Porsche 944 in good running shape. Puffs/burns no oil, even on start-up after sitting a while. Approximately 111,500 miles. I bought it because I really liked the color combination, which is optional Crystal Green Metallic paint over black interior and the black Cookie Cutter wheels. The interior is nice and has the optional cloth inserts with the Porsche script writing. Only issues with interior is drivers seat side bolster, where some of the black vinyl has come off (see picture). But the cloth is still under there and not ripped, over the foam, so I'm sure a good upholstery shop could repair it. Dash has the usual cracks from the sun.
No rust anywhere, car has no significant dings or dents. The front bumper is pushed in slightly on one side more than the other. The prior owner (active Marine Corps) said his son bumped into something. I believe its the shock absorber the bumper mounts to, and I have extra ones which I will provide to new owner.
The original paint is good - the hood, and side mirrors need to be resprayed, and it would be a very presentable looking car. The green metallic paint is slightly greener in person than the pictures, and really does look nice against the black accents. Very seldom seen color combo.
As far as driving, brakes are good, clutch is good, plenty of power for what it is. The steering does have some play, and it also slowly leaks fluid, so I believe it needs a rebuilt steering rack installed. But it drives fine, I drove it from Central, VA to the Baltimore, MD area, almost two hours, and drove well. I believe all of the blinkers and lights work.
AC does not work, but just may need a charge. Needs a new door stay on driver's side. Not sure when timing belt was done. Previous owner said clutch had been done not long ago, but could not find receipt. Clutch is good. For options, car does have very desirable limited slip rear differential (positraction), headlight washers (which almost never work anymore on these cars), optional paint color, and the Porsche script cloth inserts. Has power driver's seat, not sure if it works, may need relay, but it can be adjusted manually.
A nice driver of a car, I wouldn't hesitate to drive a long distance. $500.00 deposit thru Paypal or similar method upon purchase. Balance due in cash, wire transfer, or certified check within 7 days of purchase. Car is stored in one of my storage garages and I'm willing to store it there for no cost for up to two weeks for an out-of-town buyer. Also have two other complete 944 parts cars, so willing to provide some parts to new owner (including a good steering rack), if new owner is willing to remove. Selling this car because I simply have too many projects, and lack time, and space.
