GENERAL INFO.
Up for sale is a beautiful 1984 Fiero INDY Pace Car edition with a 1990 DOHC 2.3 Liter Quad 4 HO (180 hp @ 6200rpm, 160 lb-ft @ 5200rpm, 6700rpm redline) engine swap. There were approximately 2,000 Fiero Indy Pace Car replicas produced by GM. The original car came with the 2.5 liter Iron Duke engine. The engine on this car was swapped out many years ago for a DOHC Quad 4 engine. This engine is much more fitting of the Fiero INDY Pace Car and is a very nice match to the car.
I am the 3rd owner of the car and have known the car for 20+ years. I purchased this car from a friend a little while back and smile every time I drive it. But there are only so many hours in the day and rather than see this car sitting more than I would like I am hoping to pass it along to someone who will drive it, love it and enjoy it as much as possible.
The history of the car is very well documented (see photo(s) of paperwork). I have all the paperwork for the car dating back to when it was purchased. The car has always been garaged and cared for. The trunk corners and frame rails are beautiful. The car started life with the stock 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine, a turbo was added to that engine at approximately 2k miles and then the Quad 4 engine was swapped into the car at approximately 12k miles.
The car drives very nice and is a lot of fun. It also cruises easily on the highway at speed with the 5 speed transmission.

The car has typical cosmetic wear for a 42 year old car that was cared for but still driven and enjoyed for 68k miles. The car only saw rain if caught in a storm while driving to/from a car show. Otherwise, it was only driven on nice, dry days.
ENGINE
1990 Beretta GTZ DOHC 2.3 Liter Quad 4 H.O. engine swap (180 hp @ 6200rpm, 160 lb-ft @ 5200rpm, 6700rpm redline) with 5 speed manual transmission. Engine and transmission had 2900 miles on them when swapped into the Fiero. The Fiero chassis had approximately 12k miles on it when the swap was done. Current mileage on drivetrain is approximately 57k miles on it.
TRANSMISSION
5 Speed Manual Transmission stock from Beretta GTZ came with Quad 4 engine.

WHEELS
15'' Diamond Spoke Fiero GT Wheels Painted White with Red Stripe
The wheels were painted by the previous owner and recently freshened up. They were painted with spray paint in three steps; primer, white color, clearcoat. The outer lips were not redone during this process. The 15” GT wheels look great and fit the car nicely. Please see closeup photos of wheels. I did engrave the center caps with the INDY Fiero emblem as I thought it would look cool and I have never seen another Fiero with the INDY logo on the center caps. Perhaps this is the only set!
TIRES
The tires need to be replaced. They do hold air and have plenty of tread left but they are very old at this point. The car can be driven on them but the car will need new tires.
INTERIOR
The interior is in great condition. Please see photos of the interior as I tried to photo all the key areas that are most important to see on an INDY Fiero interior. There is normal slight “rub-wear” on the driver’s side door handle, the shift knob, steering wheel, etc as would be expected for a car with 68k miles, but this is all very minor. One note, the driver’s side red floor mat upper carpeting is in great condition but the rubber backing underneath is worn. I do not use these mats when moving the car around, they are removed and stored.
BODY NOTES
The paint and body have normal cosmetic wear / blemishes for a vehicle of this age and mileage. Please look at the photos carefully and let me know if there are any additional photos or closeups that you would like me to send. Or different lighting as I am not a professional photographer. Of note are two items below.
The paint on the rear decklid looks like the white base paint cracked underneath the clearcoat. It’s not peeling or cracking off the decklid, but looks cracked beneath the clearcoat. This decklid has been this way for the 20+ years that I have known this car and it has not changed during that time. Please see the closeup photo of the decklid as I tried to show the paint as best I could with a photo. I can of course send additional photos if requested.
The windshield has two small cracks next to each other that look like a stone or rock hit it at some point. They’re on the passenger side of the car outside of the driver’s normal field of view. I don’t see them at all while driving. I did not change the windshield as I believe that it is the original windshield for the car. You can see the “ghost” image of the original PONTIAC decal at the top of the windshield in the tinted area if you look carefully.
AIR CONDITIONING
The air conditioning does not work. All of the components are installed and connected (compressor, lines, etc) but the system does not blow any cold air. I have not looked into this at all since I did not need it. I always drove this car with both windows down.My best guess is that the last time it worked it was R12. So it should be converted to R134a and then charged and tested.
EXHAUST
Stock INDY Fiero muffler and quad exhaust tips. No catalytic converter. If you have to pass smog you may need to add one. Most states this vehicle is old enough and driven so little that a CAT isn't needed.
