1970 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Additional Info:
It's hard not to like this restored 1970 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. After all, it has a beautiful fastback design and one of the most iconic factory-correct color packages ever. But what will really get your enthusiast heart beating is the powerful (and numbers matching original) 400ci V8 and the control of four-on-the-floor.
This was the Trans Am's second year ever, and the first one with the new/sleeker second-gen lines. So it's great to see this coupe in its factory-correct and ionic colors. And this one has an extra hint of glow considering it has only gone about 5k miles since its restoration. The Polar White with blue accents fading to black is truly a mean look. When it's combined with the deep chin spoiler, shaker hood, air extractors on the front fenders, flared wheel arches, and a full width spoiler. So the total impression is full-on aggressive. And this really has all the details you want, from the Rally II wheels, to the legendary phoenix icon is leading the way.
The factory-correct blue interior is a great way to have a distinctive color combo that coordinates nicely with the exterior. Plus, the bucket-seats with a center-console in-between always gets you ready for the sports car experience. Pontiac's three-spoke steering wheel is now an icon, and the machine-turned dash panel with a full gauge set is a look that we want in a T/A. That console shifter lets you know that you're in firm control of the high-performance soundtrack, but any time that isn't enough, they also upgraded this with a retro-style AM/FM digital tuner.
Under the hood is the original numbers matching 400 cubic-inch V8. It fills the engine bay with American muscle, and the silver-blue block paint and polished valve covers do a nice job of grabbing attention after everyone gets drawn in in by the Ram Air shaker. It's a clean look that reminds you of a quality restoration, and the MSD ignition is great to get this one firing up easily. This monster motor inhales deeply with a Quadrajet 800 CFM four-barrel carburetor. It exhales with a terrific rumble from the dual exhaust. And the four-speed manual transmission (also believed to be original to the car) keeps you in firm control of it all. In fact, control was a hallmark of these cars, and that's why you power brakes w/discs up front, power steering, and sway bars front & rear.
The sale come complete with restoration photos, build receipts, a car cover, and Pontiac Historic Services (PHS) documentation. This is a well-done big-power muscle machine. So if you want to drive a legend, call today!
