1967 (SIGNET GOLD) PONTIAC GTO, 2-DOOR SEDAN (Pontiac 400 V8 Non-numbers matching engine) with 3-speed Automatic Transmission. The former owner had the long block rebuilt so this engine has less than 1,500 new miles on it as indicated on the pink colored invoices that have been included for review)
*** THIS CAR IS NOT IN A DRIVEABLE CONDITION. SEE DETAILS AND ALL PICTURES.
HISTORY: The vehicle was purchased by us for $16,500.00 (see the photo of the original handwritten Bill of Sale) as an investment/project car in running condition back in 2005 from a couple in Virginia. The car was immediately driven (fun drive!) to a paint and body shop in North Carolina to check for any hidden rust and to start whatever minor restoration it needed, but while there, the only work that was performed was to dismantle the radiator, front quarter panels (which were replaced by OEM panels), interior front wheel well panels (replaced with OEM parts), the original hood was sanded and primed, the driver’s side door was sanded and primed and the trunk lid was also sanded and primed. Note: We had used the same body shop to restore out 1988 Toyota Supra Turbo and it came out great!
After this work was performed, the vehicle sat in one of their bays for over a year and then was pushed outside where it was tarped and never worked on by this facility again. This facility became unreliable and ultimately, unwilling to finish the restoration, mostly due to management changes at this facility and their desire to do insurance repair work only for the quick cash. After considerable time and trouble, we were finally able to retrieve our vehicle from the facility and had it safely transported back home to Central Florida. We were unable to get even part of the money we paid them back. We were lucky to get the vehicle and all of the parts we purchased back!
REASON FOR SALE: Due to the nationwide economic downturn at that time and the struggle to financially recover since then and my mom and my wife's mom health issues and eventual deaths, we have been unable to afford to continue and finish the restoration that this vehicle deserves. Hence, we have decided to sell the vehicle to someone who will restore it to its former glory.
EXTERIOR: Base paint is in good to fair condition, however, the clear coat has started to peel off thanks to the vehicle being left outside under a tarp by the North Carolina facility. The car and all of the parts have been kept in a weatherproof garage since it was retrieved in 2009, so no further damage has occurred. The body shop requested that we purchase new front quarters and inner wheel wells. I did.. even though the originals didn't look that bad. I still have all of the original parts. I have included a photo of the vehicle as it was when it arrived at the body shop in NC after the drive from Virginia. I have many more but I can only post 24 photos here. All glass on the vehicle is in excellent shape.
INTERIOR: Original bench seats are in very good condition, along with the carpeting. The dash is in great shape and the cluster works just fine. The door panels are all in great shape with only some dust on them.
We purchased many replacement parts that are being sold with the vehicle, and they are still in their original shipping boxes, and are shown via the some of the attached invoices, representing OVER $4,500.00 worth of parts.
TOTAL INVESTMENT SO FAR: We paid $16,500 for the vehicle and $4,500 for the new parts. Plus, we paid the body shop $5,000. We never were able to get the money back from the body shop. So, we have invested in this vehicle so far, $26,000! So, a price of $19,750 is a FANTASTIC DEAL!!! This vehicle could easily be finished and resold for $50k or higher.
PAYMENT: Payment is to be made by CASH, in person, at your bank, PAYPAL - Friends and Family, or wire xfer ONLY! No Cashiers Checks!! Sorry, too many fakes and scammers around.
THIS IS A GREAT INVESTMENT VEHICLE FOR COLLECTIBLE CAR ENTHUSIASTS. THIS MODEL IS GETTING HARDER AND HARDER TO FIND, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE DEMISE OF THE PONTIAC DIVISION BY GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION!
Please contact Wayland with ANY questions at all. YOU CAN CALL OR TEXT. I WILL BE HAPPY TO ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT THE GTO. I WILL ALSO TAKE EXTRA CLOSE-UPS OF ANYTHING IF YOU WISH.
