The 1991 GTA Trans Am was Pontiac's pride and joy. They packed it full of all the best performance goodies they could. A hot rod motor, race tuned suspension, and the best aerodynamics to date. Then they trimmed it out with leather seats and power everything, to produce one awesome street car. Stunning in Medium Green Metallic with gold mesh wheels and gold highlights, this car really grabs your attention. When you look a bit closer at the details, you... can really see the how Pontiac's design team took advantage of a wind tunnel to shape it. A low slung front end with a split grill cuts the air. There is a discreet, but telling, GTA Trans Am emblem on the hood between hideaway headlights, which then flow back over rounded fenders. The windshield hides the wipers under the back edge of the hood and then slopes back at an-aero friendly 62 degrees. The pin-stripe gracefully follows the curves of the body back to the flat, wrap around rear wing at the trailing edge of the flush mounted hatch glass. Tail lights are in a bar across the back with Pontiac scripted in between them. The lower diffuser completes the aero package, and the Gold wheels complete the looks of this car. Now open the door and check out the special Beachwood interior. Sit in the comfortable yet supportive, power leather seat, and grab hold of that leather wrapped steering wheel. As you rest your arm on the center console, you will notice that the controls for mirrors and windows are right at your fingertips. The Shifter is even tilted toward the driver for a better feel, and the radio, heat and A/C controls are located just above that. A 140 MPH speedometer and a tachometer are located just in front of the steering wheel, with battery, fuel, temp, and oil gauges off to the side. The door panels are also nicely trimmed out with comfortable arm rests and pockets for drinks and miscellaneous items. Behind those rear bucket seats is ample storage, and those seat backs can be folded down to make for even more space under the hatch. It seems like a nice place to spend some time driving, doesn't it? The performance built into this GTA Trans Am is awesome. It starts with a 350-cubic inch TPI (Tuned Port Injection) engine, with hi flow, Siamesed, intake runners. Then, they up the game by adding in some SLP (Street Legal Performance) dealer added options like, Tri-Y stainless headers, a stainless, free flow exhaust, a cold air intake package, and CAL-PAC high performance engine prom. A four-speed automatic gets the power transferred toward the back wheels. The suspension was included in all this focus on performance too. MacPhearson struts with inboard coil springs on control arms with a sway bar plant the front wheels firmly on the ground. Coil springs and shocks with a torque arm to help resist axle twist keep the rear end planted. Finally, add in an RPO R6P option package that includes four-wheel disc brakes, an oil cooler, and performance axle ratio, and you have one well engineered, hot street car. Come on down and check out Pontiac's pride and joy. Then take it home and make it yours too.
