Would you like to own one of the original Pony cars, but one that is a little unique? Then check out this Firebird. They make their own unique styling statement with a bumper that is integrated into the design of the front end, and the motor on this one has been upgraded from an already impressive 400-cubic inch engine, to a built 455 powerhouse. This car looks good and shines bright in all its factory correct, and unique, Verdoro Green... splendor. The front bumper splits the grill in what was to become a trademark Firebird styling cue, leading with the Pontiac Arrowhead logo and incorporating dual headlights on each side. The hood is particularly interesting with a 455 badge on the side of its functional Ram Air system and a backlit tach perfectly placed for the driver to keep their eyes on the road (or track) and the engine RPM at the same time. Splashes of chrome outline the fender wells and dress out the rocker panel. At the back, the "slit" taillights are a great look above the sharp looking chrome of the back bumper. The Firebird symbol appears on the gas filler cap underneath a 455 badge on the trunk lid, and also on the front fenders next to Firebird in script. Open the door and inside this car you will find the factory code 257 Gold vinyl interior. A molded door panel has long armrest formed into it with a pull handle up high, and the door release down low. The interior looks almost peaceful with a wood tone center console and center dash. But have a seat and grab a hold of the newer, grippy, three-spoke steering wheel with a Firebird center. It feels good in your hands. A 160 MPH speedo sits directly in front of the driver and hints at the capability of this car. Backlit Sunpro gauges sit in an under-dash cluster to keep track of water temp, oil pressure, and voltage. Above them is a Retrosound stereo that is iPod compatible with aftermarket speakers in the back shelf. You realize that the peacefulness of this interior is about to be shattered when you grab the white, 4-speed Hurst ball which operates the short throw shifter and feel how a quick flick of wrist finds the next gear. And at that point, you have released the beast within. The Ram Air hood works to feed lots of fresh air to the engine. Open that hood and you will find an air filter that won't slow down that air flow and feeds an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold that has a FITech injection system handling the fuel mixing duties. An MSD Digital 6AL and Blaster SS ignition system assures good spark and long tube headers with a free flow exhaust extract the spent gases to prepare for the next power stroke. The chassis is also set up well to get the approximately 450 horsepower to the ground effectively with subframe connectors to keep the chassis from flexing and double adjustable rear shocks to keep both wheels on the ground clawing for traction. Power steering working through Excel-G gas shocks up front keep things pointed in the right direction, and power front disc brakes insure that you can reign all those horses back in when you need to. This is one awesome Pony car that is not like all the others. Give us a call or come on down and check it out. We feel like this one may not stick around for long.
