1969 Pontiac Firebird Additional Info:
As much as it pains me, I have decided to sell my 1969 Firebird. I have spent alot of money on this car since I purchased it last June and unfortunately I have lost my storage for the car for the winter so I need to sell it before then.
I need to be very clear as the previous owner was not to me. this is NOT an original firebird 400, according to the PHS docs this is about as plan jane as they came, stock 350/2bbl automatic AC car. However that should not discourage a strong look at this car unless you are looking for an all original survivor which this is not.
This car has undergone a partial rotisserie restoration. All the metal work has been done and the car is totally filler free and straight. New quarters, fenders, door skins, hood and everything else got refinished. Brand new Verdoro Green paint job, 3 coats of clear. You can see how straight the body is from the pictures. Sub-frame connectors have been welded in place and the car has a new suspension, brand new 4 wheel power disk brakes, power steering, all new lines, linkage, stainless steel exhaust system and all new wiring. Brand new 3" stainless exhaust, brand new headliner, brand new center console(also have original), a new temp black urethane dashpad is currently in the car however I also just had the original dash professionally recovered by Just Dashes in LA its just not installed but included. New Grant steering wheel, New carpet, new Dash bezel, Also included in sale is a brand new Dakota VHX Gauge Cluster that needs to be installed, new sunvisors, new Halo Headlights, and a burlwood applique for the dash bezel. Currently on the car are brand new Torque Thrust type Staggered rims with new BF Goodrich Tires but also included are 4 Rally 2s with rings with brand new BF Goodrich TA Radials mounted on them and rear spacers to account for the disk brakes.
The engine thats in the car is a Chevy Small Block 400, it runs great, has tons of power, but I cannot vouch for what was done to it, as it was in the car when I got it, my plan was to pull the engine and either go through it again or replace it with a 383 Stroker. Again, I have absolutely no reason to doubt what the previous owner said was done but since I didnt do it, I can't be sure. This is the description provided by previous owner.:
The 400 hp+ engine was custom built for this car. it is a non-numbers matching Chevy small block 400 hi-performance motor with 350 heads, 202 valves, a high energy Competition Cam, solid lifters, hi -performance polished manifold and holly carb. All new linkage. Transmission is a Muncie M-21 4 speed.
Some history on the car - it came out of california and spent most of its life in texas. By the time it made it to the north east, it was still rust free underneath but the body panels had seen better days. The car had spent some time with the previous owner using it for racing and that is where the motor came from. Previous owner stated he pulled the motor, tore it down and rebuilt it, same with transmission. The body was put on a rotisserie and the under carriage was fairly rust free. It was totally stripped and refinished.
Also included in the sale is a reprint of 1969 Firebird Assembly Manual, the PHS documentation on the car, and several boxes of parts, some brand new in box, some original.
With all that said, there are some things that need to be completed, the first 2 of which I am trying to get done before I sell it but it may not happen
1. slight shimmy coming out of 1st gear.2. E-Brake doesn't hold.3. windows need to be aligned - I have brand new front driver and passenger window hardware in box4. heat/AC is not hooked up5. no radio6. wipers are disconnected - disconnected behind the dash
Misc interior work,
1. The front seats look like they were painted black but is now wearing off to show the original green underneath, I had planned on recovering these anyway but overall in good shape no rips. I do have brand new green backs for them.
2. The steering column and the dash around the glovebox needs to be painted touched up
I have alot of money into the car and only looking for a percentage back so I can move on quickly. This is a very good car that only needs a handful of things to get it 100%, I currently take it to a local cruise once a week and I get alot of complements. I think the biggest complaint I get is alot of the older guys dont like the wheel/tire selection but like I said you get both those and the original 14" rallys with brand new BFGs mounted. I may even throw those on this weekend for next weeks cruise.
