1961 Pontiac Catalina Additional Info:
Sunnyside Sports, Classic and Muscle is proud to offer for sale this 1961 Pontiac Catalina Safari Tri-Power Wagon. Let's just say it right up front- It is as cool as cool can be. If you're of the right generation you're having a flashback right now- Dad's driving, moms looking wonderful in the front seat, the windows are down and the luggage is in the back for your big adventure....and then you hear it because you and your sisters/brothers are not behaving very well.... Dads soothing voice saying "don't make me pull this car over". If you've been there you're seeing it in your mind right now.... For me it was a 61 Chevy Wagon and an endless trip to Florida.Ok enough reminiscing. Stunning 1961 Pontiac Triple Deuce Wagon in Dawnfire Mist Poly- even the name is cool. Repainted just once in her life, she shines up wonderfully. Paint is smooth and well applied and most likely looks better than GM could ever get paint to look in 61. Inside you will find the ORIGINAL two-tone interior, complimented with standard rubber floors. The interior is beautiful; and it's hard to believe how well it has held up. It's truly survivor quality inside.Motivated by the venerable 389 Ponchmo V8 engine this wagon runs and drives quite nicely with its Tri-Power Carb set up. Originally ordered with standard carburation the car was ordered with the heavy-duty air cleaner that came standard with Tri-power. The story goes that the car was dealer converted to tri-power so the wagon could perform admirably in its duties as a drag pusher. Based on how it drives now we're confident it performed its responsibilities around the drag strip very well. Roof rack, power rear window, power steering and brakes makes this 6-rider wagon very user friendly. The underside is quite solid and the engine compartment quite tidy. The odometer shows 63,911 and the title shows actual miles although there is no way we can guarantee or confirm that the interior condition says it quite possible. We've had a lot of collector cars and some of them have been high dollar vehicles yet it seems that when this wagon is around the crowds are not looking at the 100-grand dual quad 1960 Corvette they are staring instead at this car. It's hard to define cool but I'm fairly certain this is it.Additional photos and video available. Please call (440) 365-7311 for more information or to schedule a test drive.
