1969 Pontiac Catalina Wagon Additional Info:
This car appears to have spent it's entire life with it's original owner in Pasadena, CA until about 5 years ago. Unbelievable original condition, appears to have one repaint. Factory 428, with factory badges on lower fenders. Rally wheels added, but still have original wheels and factory floor mounted 8 track.
ARE WE THERE YET?
You won't here that phrase this summer if you're driving this classic Catalina wagon!! Put the kids in the 3rd row rear-facing seat and chances are you won't hear them for the entire trip because they will be so fascinated with the whole experience!
This is a good ole' original survivior-type car. A well kept and well maintained example right out of southern California until 5 years ago. Repainted once in it's original color of Mayfair Maize, its sports its original Black morrokide vinyl interior in excellent condition. Headliner has a couple tiny holes near the tailgate area. 150,000 documented miles and drives and acts like 50,000. Nicely equipped with optional 428 four barrel 360hp engine, Turbo-Hydramatic transmission, Soft-Ray Tinted Glass All Windows, Air Conditioning, Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Power Windows including rear windows, AM/FM Stereo Radio with 8 track Player and Rally II Wheels and new P255/70R15 BFGoodrich TA tires. Updates to the suspension include ADDXS 1 1/8 inch diameter away bars front and rear, also aftermarket boxed rear control arms with polyurethane bushings. This handles as well as a stock 1970 GTO!
The body is in excellent original condition with all it's original sheetmetal and is rust free! Underbody, floors an frame are as solid as the day they were manufactured. No cosmetic damage, rust repairs, or other structural problems are evident. Paint is respectable for an older repaint but not perfect. It's a five-footer, a car you can drive to a local cruise nite, the local mall and not worry about it. The are some small stone chips, dings, nicks and scratches as you would expect. The hood has an small area where paint has bubbled due to vehicle stored above it (i.e. 4 post storage rack) dripped fluid. Also - grill nose paint is cracking from old repair to same. We have added close up photos of each.
The 428 purrs like a kitten and starts up every time. Prior owner installed fresh set of Delco battery cables and starter motor and a new correct internally regulated 70 amp alternator with correct 69 housing. New halogen sealed beam headlamps and other newer parts such as belts, dual exhaust system, radiator, brake shoes, pads. Also all four new AC Delco Shock Absorbers with adjustable Super lift air shocks in rear.
All the options work properly including the air conditioning. The AC did blow cold, but most likely needs just a charge. We have driven vehicle very little since we've owned it. Hi-blower relay needs replaced. Sometimes you have to press on the window switches to make them work. Pontiac floor mats added over the original carpeting, which is in great condition.
An entire folder of receipts going back to the 70's from Pasadena, CA repair shops.
Overall, the car is a great driver, both looks and performance wise. Its receives attention everywhere it goes!
