1968 Pontiac Firebird Additional Info:
1968 Pontiac Firebird Convertible, 350 cu in, manual 3 speed (factory Hurst shifter). This car is perfectly old school - manual steering, manual drum breaks, AM radio all the way. Car purchased from original owner - a close family friend - in 1970 (we are the 2nd owner). Car has been well maintained and kept in garage throughout its entire life, so there are no significant, compromising areas of rust (see photos). Original interior seats, carpet, and trim, which have been well cared for and are in great shape (again, see photos). Exterior was repainted in original factory yellow color and the convertible top was replaced back in 1984. Only 7% of Firebirds from this model year were produced with a 350 cu in AND with manual 3 speed, and less than 20% of these came as a convertible - so this is a particular rare production model (I've never run across another exactly like it). The car came stock with a Rochester 2 barrel carb. But I converted it to an Edelbrock 4 barrel carb, aluminum intake, and headers-duel exhaust many years ago. BUT - I kept the original intake, exhaust manifolds, and valve covers, all which are included as part of the sale. Engine (block, heads, cam, values) are all original. This particular model did NOT come with a positive traction rear end. The gas tank and fuel sending unit were recently replaced and the carb rebuilt. The car runs great, no smoke, brakes function well. Overall, the car represents a particularly rare find. It will turn heads AS IS ... just check out the photos. But it will need some work to bring it to the highest level of classic car enthusiast appreciation. The vehicle represents a particularly valuable find for that Pontiac enthusiast who is looking to get a rare, excellent condition production model with original parts and restore it to the highest level. $500 deposit expected upon winning the auction. Best of luck with your bidding.
