1976 Plymouth Other Additional Info:
This is a one owner 1976 Plymouth Volare' in excellent original condition with 78k original miles. I say 1 owner because it is still titled under the original owner's name but the car has changed hands twice since the original owner passed away. Here is the story I got when I bought the car a few years ago: The car was purchased new in Huntington Beach California. It stayed in Southern Cal for most of his life. The original owner always kept the car garaged and well maintained. He would regularly show the car at Pomona and if you search "1976 Plymouth Volare'" you will see pictures of this car at car shows. The family of the original owner moved him up to Washington State back in 1996 as he was getting up in years and needed to be closer to his kids. Twenty years later when his kids retired they moved to Yuma Arizona and brought the car with them. It was stored under a carport in Yuma but at some point while in Yuma all the emblems were taken off the car and the drivers door rear view mirror was cracked by vandals. The family knew that if they kept the car where it was it would continue to be vandalized so they took it to be detailed to get it ready to sell and the owner of the detail shop ended up buying the car from the family. He kept it indoors with plans to clean it up and make a daily driver out of it. He could never find the time to work on it so he put it up for sale and I purchased it. It has sat in my garage ever since. I went through the fuel system and rebuilt the carb so it runs and drives fairly well but could use a complete tune-up with plugs, ires etc. It really just needs to be driven regularly and I think it would smooth out as it runs rough when it's cold. I have driven it around town from time to time, o I know it runs fine and it just floats down the road with the famous Volare' suspension. It has power steering, C, M/FM radio that works great, ower brakes, uto trans that shifts perfect. Tires are in great shape. Everything works on the car including all gauges, urn signals (even the indicators on the top of the fenders), orn, nbsp;interior lights, ash lights, oor locks and windows. The AC blows but not cold. The compressor is not locked up. I put new belts on the car when I got it along with oil change and air filter. I think it could be used as a daily driver. The paint is all original and it has never had any body work done to the car from what I can tell. It has a tiny spot of rust on the passenger's rear of the car just above the tail light (see pic) which is an odd place for rust. Very easy repair. No other rust on the car. All chrome and trim pieces are there and in great shape. Vinyl top is in great shape. I have all of the missing emblems and a new side rear view mirror that I have collected since I have owned the car. I didn't put them on the car because I wasn't sure if I was going to leave it all original or have the car repainted. The original paint shines pretty good, ut there are multiple nicks and dings in the car. The driver's front fender appears to have been shot with a rattle can in one section and there are some waves in the hood that need to be addressed, o I think if you want the car to be show condition then you would want to have the body work done and re-shoot the car. The interior is in absolutely amazing condition. Everything is still original inside and in great shape throughout from headliner to carpet and everything in between. The seats are still comfortable and firm. Radio sounds great and the car really is a pleasure to drive and turns heads galore. I want this car to go to someone who will appreciate it and not destroy the originality of the car. Not many of these cars survived due to major rust issues so they are nearly impossible to find in this condition. This car was named the Motor Trend Car of the Year in 1976 due to all the innovations Plymouth came out with on the suspension etc. I do have an original copy of the Motor Trend issue with this car on the front cover naming it the Car of the Year and it's in great shape. Also comes with original owner's manual and dealer brochure. The reserve on the car is low. Like I said I'm more interested in this car going to someone who knows what to do with it. I am unable to spend the time on it that it needs and have two other projects ahead of it, therwise I would keep it. It would probably make a reasonable drive if you wanted to drive it home, ut no guarantees. It has sat a lot over the past 5-10 years. Please ask any questions before bidding. I have tried to be as thorough and honest as I can about the car but I may have missed something so ask all questions and requests more pics if needed. My feedback speaks for itself. I do reserve the right to end the auction at anytime as I may use other media to try and sell the car and it could sell at anytime. I require a $500 deposit due via Paypal within 24 hours of the end of the auction with balance due within 7 days. Thanks for checking out the car and good luck!
