1966 Plymouth Barracuda Additional Info:
Red 1966 Plymouth Formula S 4speed. I am the 4th owner. Car was purchased Alberta Canada by the original owner. I have the sales order and sales contract. It was sold a few years later to a lady in the USA. She did not drive the car very much and about 16 years ago gave the car to her son who lived in AZ. I purchased the car about 13 years ago from him. I had the car painted the original red color with the black racing stripes. A clear coat was then applied. A new front window was installed when it was painted and a new gasket was used on rear window. Some bondo was used on the rear fenders wheel edges to repair some rust damage. I have had the car garaged since so the paint is still very nice but does have a few small chips. The bumpers were re-chromed and new carpets installed. I did not have to do any thing to the interior since it looks almost like new except for two small crack in the dash. I had the engine and transmission rebuilt and a new pressure plate and clutch installed. New bearing were installed in U joints and the drive shaft was balanced. The radiator, 4 barrel carburator, suspension, tachometer and sending uni, and dual point distrubtor were rebuilt. I also had dual exhausts installed with mopar tips for a better sound and look. Recently I had the brakes rebuilt with new master cylinder, rear drums, wheel cylinders, and hardware. The front disk brakes were rebuild previously. I have not driven the car much since the rebuilt because the collector car insurance I have on it only allows 300 miles a year.
On the con side, The tires have a lot of tread left but should be replaced since they are 12 years old. The original blue streak tire is still in the trunk and does not look like it was used much. The gas gage does not work. I had the sending unit in the tank replaced but the repair shop said it needed a new transmitter installed under the dash but he could not find it. The right turn signal does not work. The window washer system needs to be completed. I have the new tank and pump so just the tubing is needed. There is no power steering, brakes, or AC. I was told the original owner ordered it that way because he wanted to go faster than the Mustangs of that era .
Also included is the owners operating manual, sales brochure, build sheet(found behind the back seat), and shop repair manuals. An identical red barracuda formula s 4 speed sold on ebay in 2011 for $22,200 (see last photo). Admittal it was a better restoration, but you will have a hard time finding one as in good original condition, as the one I have for sale.
