1974 Plymouth Road Runner Additional Info:
You are bidding on an original1974 PLYMOUTH ROADRUNNERpowered by an 8cylinder 360CIDhigh performance motor with afour barrel carburetor and automatic transmission. I believe this caris an idealproject car worthy of a restoration; its complete, solid, and in good condition considering it's age (43 years old) and the fact that it has been sitting idle for the last 19+ years. Please take notice ofthe last pic, the original "Chrysler Corporation Car Product Broadcast" form is included.
History: I purchased the car from the brother of the original owner in 1997/98when I was stationed inVirginia. Soon after the purchase Idiscovered the motor had an issue, itran extremely poorly/rough, back firing through the carburetor. After removing the valve covers Ifound one rocker arm for the 2nd cylindersplit in half andthe other (rocker arm) had the push rod stuck in it.Since I had bought several other vehicles at that time, nothing further was done to the car. In 1999 I relocated and towed the car to New York where the dream of restoring the car was superseded by lifes other priorities of building a house and garage. The Roadrunner was issued a New York state title in 2005.
Motor: Appears to be set up now, it would not turn over with wrench, however I did not force the issue in fear of doing internal damage (will probably need to be disassembled to be freed).Other than that, motoris complete with no missing parts, everything is there since it was last run. Motor currently has a two barrel manifold/carburetor installed, however the original 4 barrel carburetor/manifold (see pic)sits in the trunk.
Body: Has the usual issues,in the normal places (lower portion of doors/fenders/rear quarters) with rust and deteriorating body work/repairs, conditions that would be expected from a car with its history. Trunk has two areas where the pans have rusted through (see pics 22/23). The hood also has a fewareas in the(support) webbingthat hasconsiderable rust (see pic), however the hood panel itself is in good shape.
Chassis: The two pics of the chassis are upside downfor some unknown reason (the originals weren't ??). The drive shaft was removed when the car was towed and is accounted for.
Interior: The interior is generally in good condition. The bucketseats have been covered the entire time and are in good shape except forthe tear in the drivers seat near the head rest (see pic), the plastic seat backing isintact andin good shape on both seats. The rear seat is also in good shape with exceptionto a seam atop the left side of the seat back where it hasstarted to separate about 2 inches in length (I believe its shows up in one of the pics). The door panels and rear seat side panels are complete and in good shape. The center console is complete and in good condition, the door to the compartment at the rear of the consoleis not attachedat the hinge and is missing the lock. The radio portion of the dash was cut/hacked upto allow for some sort of after market radio component. The door to the glove compartment was removed and is accounted for.
Extras:A fewNOS partsare included- Felpro master gasket overhaul kit (360 cid motor), platinum spark plugs, wheel cylinders, and brake hoses (possibly more).
It has taken me many years to say good bye to the Roadrunner, I love everything about the car especially its sporty, tough, sharp appearance with muscle under the hood. However reality has finally set in, it has sat around long enough, its time for it to move on down the road. It's my hope this awesome car goes to a MOPAR family with the means and desire to reviveitto its former glory days, consequentlyI WILL NOT PART IT OUT!!!
