1935 Packard Additional Info:
This 1935 Packard Twelve 1208 7 passenger sedan has the long 144 inch wheelbase, and has been nicely restored to a touring standard. It's well equipped with chrome wire wheels, sidemounts, Cormorant mascot, V-12 counterweighted bumpers, radio, jumpseats and trunk rack. . A big, good looking car, with restoration work done about 15 years ago, including a rebuilt engine, paint, chrome, wheels and tires, and a gorgeous wool interior. . The Chrome wire wheels and 750 x 17 double whitewall Bedford Custom Coach tires look great! . In 1935 you could choose between chrome or painted radiator shell. . The Packard Blue is a subtle color, it is quite dark, and shows blue in the sunlight. . Striking and regal. . Let's take a look at the beautiful interior - a combination of real wood and woodgraining . Excellent upholstery - grey wool with very subtle pinstriping, tighly sewn in the proper pattern. . Absolutely beautiful inside. . Nice chrome doorhandles and excellent doorpanel upholstery. . Excellent dash and steering wheel . Excellent original instruments. All work except speedometer and clock. . Nice original instrument faces . A classic and beautiful gauge arrangement. Note the radio in the center. . Beautiful Packard Crest horn emblem. . Headliner nicely and correctly done, however there are a few spots that have been patched to cover moth damage, the only flaw that I noted in the interior. . Headliner and sunvisors. . Nice! note the original Packard step plates. . There's the 1935 Packard Twelve engine, the 160 Horsepower marvel that runs great and has that unbelievable V-12 sound today! . Note the correct distributor cap cover, the right carburetor and air cleaner, and dual coils. . Note the oil heat exchanger. . The right engine number for this car, the Turnquist book "The Packard Story" shows this is the correct engine number for 1935 Twelve production. . the thermostat and radiator look like they've been done. The car runs at 180 degrees on a hot day, and the shutter thermostat works properly. . Here are the closed shutters, looking like a million bucks. . And here they are open after a drive. The car drives well, with lots of power, the front end is tight and doesn't shake or shimmy, even when driven over double railroad tracks. The car never exceeded 180 degrees on the temperature gauge, even on a hot day, and it pulled a steep hill in third gear. I noticed an issue with the transmission, the synchros are weak and require double-clutching to shift quietly, and you can hear the bearing in second gear. . That's the original data plate, with 834 being the correct code for the 1935 1208 V-12 Seven Passenger Sedan. . Wow! . The big V-12 counterweighted bumpers are just one more element in the visual impressiveness of a Packard Twelve. . Beautiful! . Great from any angle. .
