This 1949 Packard 8 Club Sedan is complete, but in need of a full restoration. It’s been owned by the same person for over 30 years. According to the owner, he bought the car in Virginia and was there until about 8 years ago when the engine seized and the car was moved outside. It was previously restored sometime in the mid 1980’s.
This is a later model 23rd series 1949 Packard. It has the standard 327 cubic inch straight 8 flathead V8 and a 3 speed manual transmission. It does not run and drive, but it looks like all major components are present.
The exterior looks to be mostly solid with exception of a few holes along the rocker panels. There is a dent in the driver’s side door and there is some filler on the passenger side rear quarter. The chrome having been previously redone, actually looks ok. Some chrome trim may just need a polish.
The interior looks to be complete and in good condition with the exception of the headliner which is falling down, the driver’s side door card, and the ignition switch was relocated to below the dash. Otherwise, the seats, dash, gauges, trim, etc. is all present and useable.
This Packard is a good candidate for a restoration. It’s for sale on consignment by Fort Pitt Classic Cars. Please contact us with any questions.
