1972 Plymouth Duster Additional Info:

1972 Plymouth Duster (VS29H2B363xxx) Factory black on black, All numbers matching, factory 340c.i.(H-code) with a Hurst 4-speed !!!!!!!! The Duster was completely rotisserie restored and it is absolutely incredible!!! It is a true 340 4-speed TX9 factory black car with an original perfect broadcast sheet, fender tag, black 340 Duster side stripe and black trunk stripe, sharktooth grill, factory power disc brakes, manual steering, factory rear defroster with blower, dual chrome racing mirrors, correct T76 code E70x14 RWL Goodyear Polyglas Tires on factory small bolt rallye wheels, factory dual exhaust with chrome tips and factory AM/FM radio.

This 340 Duster has been completely rotisserie restored from top to bottom and all the suspension, K-member, driveline, interior, glass, grill, etc… were all removed during the restoration. This very high end restoration includes many of the correct factory parts as it left the assembly line, many of the correct factory nuts and bolts, date coded plug wires, heater hoses, fuel line, fuel filter, PCV hose, battery and many of the factory correct part numbers! The motor, transmission, rear-end, front/rear suspension, K-member, engine bay, trunk, interior, gas tank, fuel lines, brake lines, and undercarriage have all been restored to a very high quality restoration. I also duplicated many of the factory assembly line paint markings. The Duster since being rotisserie restored has about 15 break-in miles on it and was just finished March 2026. All of the body numbers match on the radiator support, VIN tag, fender tag, door VIN decal, broadcast sheet and on the speaker shelf/trunk divider area. You must check these numbers to authenticate that it is a real 340 Duster. To find a real numbers car with this color combo and options like this is getting extremely hard to find let alone one restored to this caliber and become available to purchase. This is an absolutely beautiful car and one of the nicest Dusters you will find with this type of high end restoration, correct factory black color, 4-speed transmission and all numbers matching with documents!!! When doing a restoration of this caliber takes a lot of time, patience and money to be done correctly. Please understand this is not your average “driver” condition 340 Duster!!!

Paint and Body

The body is in excellent shape and the panels are very straight with excellent seams and panel fit. The super high-gloss deep clear coat shine was just professionally hand block wet sanded with 1500, 2000, 2500 and 3000 grit paper to achieve the high caliber ultra shine finish. This long process alone took over 60 hours and the finish shows it! The Duster’s sheet metal is believed to be mostly original with only the floor pans being replaced from what I was told. I purchased it over 2 years ago as a rolling painted car that needed completed. The trunk floor, quarter panels, rockers, fenders, hood, doors and frame rails are super clean and appear original. The Duster was painted about 3 years ago with Dupont base coat/clear coat and is in unbelievable condition… it has that deep wet look shine! If you think it looks good in the photos you need to see it in person! The paint in all the door jams, trunk, inner fenders and complete undercarriage looks fantastic. The doors open and close excellent with the ease of a finger and even the door latches and strikers were cleaned and polished.

GLASS, CHROME AND TRIM

The glass is in very good condition with only a few very minor marks. The front windshield is new and the rest is the original Chrysler factory glass. The side and rear glass is in very nice condition and only has a couple very minor scratches. All windows and locks operate as should. The front and rear bumpers, side markers lens, antenna kit, door handles, mirrors and complete sharkestooth grill are all brand new. The window trim is very clean and was polished for optimum shine.

INTERIOR

The interior was completely restored with correct factory seat covers, carpet, trunk divider, speaker shelf, dash pad, complete dash resto, sill plates, 4-speed items and much more! The factory gauge cluster was restored and looks great. All factory gauges work and operate correctly. Oil pressure gauge was added. All lighting works as should including the high/low beams, dome light, tail lights, parking lights, turn signals, reverse lights, four-way flashers and license plate light. The factory AM/FM radio also works perfect and I believe it was also restored. The E-brake, defrosters, rear defrost, heater, fan, horn, speedometer and dimmer switch work as should.

DRIVE TRAIN / SUSPENSION

The 340 makes excellent power, runs very strong through all the gears and sounds awesome!!! The original numbers matching 340 was completely rebuilt from top to bottom and was rebuilt to 1970 340 10:1 compression specs. The 340 gives an excellent range of power and maintains excellent vacuum. It has all completely new cast aluminum pistons, bearings, oil pump, push rods, comp cam kit, and completely rebuilt heads with hardened seats. It also has it’s correct 1972 factory 340 exhaust manifolds. I only use the Valvoline VR1 10w-30 racing oil. It is one of the best oils on the market and already has the higher Zinc added in for older cars. The 340 is topped of with the correct 340 1972 intake and has a Edelbrock 600 cfm carb with electric choke. The Chrysler tank factory radiator is a 1972 and correct for a 340 and also has a factory fan shroud. The Hurst 4-speed transmission is the correct original numbers matching trans that was completely rebuilt. It also has a new clutch kit, Z-bar, clutch rod and adjustment rod kit, factory correct 4- speed shifter, shifter handle, shifter boot and chrome trim ring. The Duster shifts excellent through the gears and is absolutely a blast to drive! The rear end is a 8 3/4 with 3.55 sure grip center and a 741 case number on it. It has new stock leaf springs, hangers, bushings, drive shaft, U-joints and rear shocks. The front suspension was completely disassembled and all redone and just finished the front end alignment. This excellent drive train combo has very good performance and handles great in all conditions whether highway or city driving. This is a very tight and smooth running and driving 340 4-speed Duster! This Duster sets itself apart from others with a factory H-code car, all numbers matching and a 4-speed that has been rotisserie restored from top to bottom! Please look at the photos closely to see the amount of detail work that was done! Even the undercarriage of the Duster is unbelievably clean and done right with many of the factory paint markings!!!
