BUYERS CAN CALL ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS AT 760 805 803EIGHT.
PLEASE CALL AS OPPOSED TO EMAIL IF YOU ARE A SERIOUS BUYER.I WILL BE HAPPY TO DO A BUY IT NOW FOR SERIOUS BUYERS.I KNOW THE AD IS LONG BUT IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE AD. I HAVE COVERED ALOT OF INFORMATION.This is a one of a kind project for a Trans Am enthusiast. It is 100 percent a real deal example, not a clone or tribute.I rescued this 1970 Ram Air III Pontiac Trans Am that I'm sure was a really nice car when it got parked and forgotten in the back of a storage lot of a construction company in Los Angeles about 30 years ago. It is definitely a Barn Find type of car. There was just no Barn. Fortunately, with Southern California weather, a Barn isn't necessarily needed. Unfortunately, one of those crappy blue tarps was put over the top and not kind to the drip rails and the front of the hood. The rest of the car is very solid. It is a lifelong California car and the body is surprisingly nice other than the roof/hood rust and rust at the end caps of the dashtop inside the car. The hood could be repaired and I'm sure the drip rails could be as well, but it may be easier to install a new roof skin and just be done with it. There are minor bubbles on the front fenders and a small spot under the lip of the driver's side rear quarter. I had planned on running it around exactly like it sits without doing anything cosmetically since it would be the only one like it at any car show. The car retains it's original VIN tag on the dash, Trim Tag on the firewall, and both of it's original blue and yellow California license plates. It came built as a code 10 10 Polar White car with code 211 Bright Blue Knitted Vinyl Custom Trim interior from the factory.Clean, clear California title in hand. The floorboards, frame, rockers, behind the rear window, and the trunk pan are nice. It is a matching number Ram Air III 400, Turbo 400 automatic transmission, 12 bolt posi traction rearend, AC, power steering, power disc brakes, manual windows, and a column shift. Obviously, a column shifter is extremely rare in a Trans Am and they only made a handful of them. They came as a column shift if somebody ordered an automatic instead of the standard four speed but were too cheap to spend the extra $58 for the optional console. That being said, being rare doesn't always mean desirable. They made a total of 3,196 Trans Ams in 1970. 1,339 of those came with a Turbo 400 automatic transmission. They made 988 cars with factory air conditioning. 765 total of those came with AC and an automatic. Of those 765, only 187 built at the Van Nuys, CA plant were produced with AC and an automatic so it would stand to reason this might be one of a few built there in this configuration. Not that is really even all that relevant, but it is interesting! The Trans Am had not been moved or started since 1994 and DOES NOT CURRENTLY RUN. That may change during the auction if I have time to get to it but it is sold as it sits currently. I have not attempted to start it yet but obviously if I get it running, the price will be higher. Yes, I know somebody put Ram Air IV stickers on the fenders but it obviously isn't a Ram Air IV. It is the original Ram Air III 400/345HP engine. The original YZ suffix code stamp is clearly visible on the engine pad. The factory VIN stamp is also clearly visible. Both are pictured in the gallery. It is the correct numbered Rochester Quadrajet carburetor which I assume is probably the original. The gas tank has large dents. The car does not have the original JW code Rally II wheels. They are later model HW and HH code wheels. Also, the factory Shaker Hood assembly was stolen years ago. The one pictured is off of a 1979 T/A and is just the scoop with no base. The tires are very old. Two hold air and two sometimes do/sometimes don't. It depends on their mood and if it is parked with the holes underneath so the ground plugs the leaks. They're junk.Pontiac Historic Services documented. I have the build sheet and a reproduction Window Sticker. It was built in the LA/Van Nuys, CA plant and sold new at Kasey Pontiac in San Diego. The Bright Blue bucket seat interior actually cleaned up decently. The upholstery is in good condition. Original steering wheel, original radio. The dash has cracks in it. The door panels are nice. The headliner is excellent. The carpet is obviously very faded. The glass is good. Both windows roll up and down easily. I have the chrome trim for the drip rails but it is not currently installed. All in all, this is a really cool 70 T/A find that you can take any direction you want. Yes, it needs to be restored but it's not like you find one like this every day. Rotisserie restore it or just clean up the mechanicals and drive it like it sits. It is a rare and desirable car from the height of the Muscle Car era that deserves to be back on the road. I promise if you park it next to a perfect $100k one, it will get more attention. Not that it's nicer, it's just something different. I think it looks really cool like it is with all of the patina it has. Patina is also known as somebody left it outside for too long. I am located in North County San Diego.Shipping Buyer is responsible for shipping costs. I can cooperate with your shipper.
