This truck turns heads!
1975 Chevrolet K5 Blazer is the last year of the full hardtop. This truck was stripped down to the steel on the body. Floorboards and rocker panels replaced, see pics. The body was then primed with 2K primer inside AND out. Then painted. I built this truck such that I could use it as a daily driver and did for almost a year. This is a Texas truck and I made significant improvements to make it more drivable: the AC was upgraded with dual electric condenser fans and all AC components were replaced, yes all, compressor, lines, evaporator, condenser, … you name it. The AC works great, even in Texas heat and in traffic. The transmission was replaced with a HD rebuilt 4x4 t700 out of a 91 blazer. Since this was a different size than the original t350, I had new drive shafts made, front and back. The transfer case is original and may need rebuilding the future. The front axles do have lockouts, which were an add-on from original. The engine is rebuilt with flat top pistons, 202 summit heads with headers. The engine was converted to Fuel Injection via a Fitech throttle body injection system. The Fitech unit started having issues, so I put it back to an Edelbrock carb and intended to have the fuel injection replaced (haven’t done that). The engine was upgraded to the serpentine belt system out of a 91 Chevy Truck, Much Better!
The interior is Awesome! I replace the seats with 2006 Cadillac seats, front and back, with shoulder seatbelts integrated. The console is from this Cadillac as well. The Dash instruments have been upgraded to LED lite digital gages. Admittedly, these gages are a fantastic look, but are affected by signal noise behind the dash and don’t give the accuracy I would like. The electric system was upgraded with new version fuses and more capacity and was taken from a 2005 Chevy Impala (these years had fuse boxes that you could actually take apart and reconfigure). They work great. The tires are like new with 35inch BF Goodrich tires on a 6inch lift. The tow hitch was used to pull a boat and is a solid, fully-functional tow hitch. The windows were professionally tinted and are a must in Texas. The Paint is great from 10ft, but not showroom. The paint is a high quality PPG and the primer is a fantastic 2k epoxy primer. The paint was never buffed out and I also left a couple of small dings as opposed to using body filler. I wanted to drive the truck and was not as concerned with a few cosmetic dings as I was expecting to get a few from driving.
I love the look of this truck and built it to be a good driver while keeping the original look. I am selling as I have several other projects and don’t drive this much anymore.
With this truck, you will also get the original seats, front and back, and all the parts that were removed, or replaced. I kept most of the parts even if they weren’t any good for future reference. Either way, you get what I have.
