1981 Other Makes Kelmark GT Additional Info:

This 1981 Kelmark GT is a rare find. It is hard to find one of these, but especially hard to find one that is so original and well done. I love this little car, but we are moving and I cannot take it with me. I will miss it when it’s gone. It only has about 18,000 actual miles showing, and I'm pretty sure that's accurate. This was a garage queen/show car.
LOW reserve. If you have zero feedback, I will cancel your bid unless you contact me. Scammers - don't bother.
Auction Terms: Please do not bid unless you can abide by these payment terms and agree to purchase the vehicle if you win. No warranty or guarantees implied or offered. As is purchase. A PayPal deposit must be made within 12 hours of auction end of $250 and the balance must be wired to my bank within 48 hours. Pick up of vehicle must be within 30 days unless I agree to other arrangements.

This particular Kelmark was put together in the early 80s, by an engineer I was told. It has a Gene Berg shifter, and I was told it has many Berg engine improvements to the early Volkswagen air cooled engine. I was told it is a VW 2000 cc engine. The transmission is a four-speed manual Volkswagen transmission.
This car runs and drives. But it will need the fuel pump replaced, as it is leaking fuel down into the oil, causing some smoke from the exhaust and tapping. This is a common issue with early Volkswagen fuel pumps. So it will at a minimum need a oil change and the new fuel pump installed. It comes with a new fuel pump, and new engine compartment fuel lines. Also comes with a variety of other new parts.
I have driven this car around the block. And it goes through all of the four gears very well. Because it sat for a few years, I would think that it would benefit from a basic tuneup. It does have a new battery as of a few months ago. And there is a Kill switch on the battery.
Until the fuel pump is replaced, and the car is inspected, I would not drive the car very far.
The tires have excellent tread, but they are older. It has original American Racing turbine wheels.
Body: I believe it is the original coating from the factory. And the original decals. The body is in overall great shape, and it is fiberglass. As you would expect with a fiberglass body that is over 40 years old, there are some spiderweb cracks here and there around stress points. They are pictured. There is a small chip on the front bumper area, as shown. The glass is in excellent condition, however, the passenger side window has come off the track and needs to be reattached.
The undercarriage is good. Notably, the passenger rear pan section needs to be patched. But otherwise all looks good to me.
Interior: overall, the interior is in excellent condition. The carpet looks very nice. The headliner looks great. The dash pad looks great, but the bottom needs to be re-glued a little bit. The seats look almost new. The steering wheel looks great, and the gauges which are Stewart warner are also great.
Has an awesome storage compartment / trunk that’s very clean with a spare tire.
Please note that I have tried to describe the vehicle to the best of my ability. The photos, videos, and description are all intended to be part of the overview for the vehicle. Please review all carefully. They are not intended to be 100% comprehensive.
Here is the information I was given about the car by the previous owner: "New engine case, made in Germany. 2000CC with heads ported and polished by Clyde Berg. It has a 2.5 quart oil pump, blue coil, dual Weber carbs, lightened fly wheel, modified fuel pump and with a 4 into 1 merged exhaust. The transmission was built by David Foltz and has welded synchro rings and steel shift forks."

Gauges are the factory VDO gauges. Not Stewart Warner. :)

Note: I've had a couple people ask if I'd end the auction early. My belief is that once the reserve has been met, I will not end the auction early. The highest bid wins. I do appreciate all of the interest in my Kelmark. Thank you.
