1972 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Additional Info:

I sat in the backseat the day my father bought this car brand new in 1972 and it has been in the family since. It was his baby and he took care of it meticulously, his only mistake was allowing me to drive it in high school and college and well, I treated it like a college kid meaning I had a few fender benders - nothing major just a little bondo here and there along the way. It was originally yellow, he had it painted blue along the way and put a new blue top on (which is still in great shape with very little fading (minor spots)). He kept it stored from around 1990-2008 when he finally decided I was adult enough to have it again. In 2011 I had the car repainted and new interior and it has mostly sat covered in my garage. I chose the white so it would match the blue top and it looks really great (like an older Porsche). Been driven a couple times/year since. It looks amazing, I have several high-end cars (911 Turbo, Jag F-type, Corvette) and It amazes me the amount of attention this car draws compared to those. Simply stopping to get gas I probably average 2 conversations with people gawking over it.
Since I drove this car when it was basically new, I know the quirkiness of the model and if you are looking at it I assume u do as well. The top can be a pain to get hooked, I can remember in high school needing 2 buddies to push it down while I latched the hooks. The back glass will stay up but won't latch down (and it hasn't since I can remember) and since the day it was new it was never water tight in heavy rain. Neither bother me because I always had the top down. The car drives great, if it is being driven regularly it will start right up and idles perfectly (never dies at lights).

I have the original books which even has some of the early stamps from the dealer service. I have all the recent service records showing work I had done and receipts for tires and other miscellaneous items. My father kept meticulous records which I have stored, not sure what all is in there as it is in a storage locker, I will be happy to retrieve for serious buyers who are interested in the history of the car. I also have a bin he gave me of extra parts I can itemize and send pics of if interested.
I have no idea how many actual miles are on this car, the odometer says 38k, I am guessing it is 138k and know the engine was replaced about 20 years ago. That engine I know has less that 10k miles on it and it runs perfectly
THIS IS AN AWESOME ONE OWNER THAT LOOKS AND RUNS GREAT - AN ABSOLUTE BLAST TO DRIVE!
Feel free to message me any questions and I will do my best to answer them. I hate to part with it but retiring and moving across country and it needs an owner that will really drive it.
