1953 Other Makes Roadster Additional Info:
This is a very unusual kit car made in the early 1950's. It is called the Astro Fire. I know nothing about this car other than it is all fiberglass and was made in a mold. In the article I photographed, it says there must have been more of these made as there was a mold for it. As per the rest of my research, I believe the manufacturer may have been Glasspar. Glasspar often used the Studebaker chassis under their kit cars. I believe more were intended to be made, but this is the only one I could find. There are no pictures or forums pertaining to this car anywhere on the internet. The body sits on a 1941 Studebaker chassis and is powered by a six cylinder engine and a three speed manual transmission. The car runs and drives good but it needs a few things i.e hood supports, trunk lid support, the doors sag a little and need adjusting. It is a blast to drive and it's peculiarity makes people look at it with a smile. To see the car call Bruce or Skyler at 916-652-6852 weekdays from 8 to 4. We are about 15 miles east of Sacramento just off highway 80 going towards Reno, Nevada. If anyone knows anything about this car, I would appreciate the information.Thank you.
