1966 Other Makes GT40 MKII Additional Info:
This is a rare and unique Superformance/HiTec GT40 MKII. The HiTec serial number is GT001(refer to SAAC book for details), making it the earliest MKII in public ownership and the first one built. The Safir serial number is GT40P2024, also a very low serial number, preceeded by only 4 other cars(including Carrol Shelby's GT40P2001)!There are many one-of-a-kind elements in this masterpiece, too many to list here. The dash is a the J-car design, which is far more attractive and masculine than the standard '40 dash. The central console is an authentic period Abbey Panels unit, exactly the same as in the original cars, as is the period rear view mirror.Engine is a Roush experimental unit with fuel injection, putting out about 580 horsepower, with similar torque. This engine was the Roush SEMA display motor for 2007. I have the original build sheet from Roush, which indicates a price of $24,000 in 2006.Transmission is a RBT ZF unit with upgraded shift kit from Olthoff Racing, who did the assembly, testing and race/street preparation on the car, with input from Holman and Moody. The car has less than 1200 miles and has been gently driven in historic events at Daytona(Rolex Historic) and Sebring(driven by Randy Pobst). Many hours and dollars have been spent to make this beautiful beast reliable yet awesome. When shown, she is the undisputed winner every time...
