1969 Opel Opel Additional Info:
This is a great running Opel Rekord C 2-door sedan, 4 speed manual on the column. It's 50 years old, so there is no warranty anymore, but I would drive it to anywhere as long as a road leads to it! Starts right up, has manual choke. 1.7 liter 4 cylinder CIH engine. Doesn't smoke or use oil between changes. Top speed exceeds tire rating ;-). I drove it all over Virginia, DC, North Carolina, PA, NYC, WV,...with it having no electronics, it doesn't simply stop on you like a modern car with a faulty electronic part and sensors going bonkers. It complains directly to you when you have overlooked a maintenance item like the ignition points or it squeaks if it requires a new belt or an ounce of grease, or it drips coolant to let you know, that the water pump wants to be changed when you get home - all that has been done recently. It is a good companion. Reliable. Trustworthy. Simple, yet elegant.
Has original spare (Semperit, made in Austria). I never had a flat. Comes also with two aggressive winter tires on rims.
Oil changed every 5000km, filter changed every 10000km, brakes flushed, ethanol free gas used only! No need for lead additives - has redone cylinder head with hardened seats for unleaded gas.
Clear Virginia title in my hands. Still on the road and insured, driven sparingly since 2 months due to health reasons, which brought me to the decision to part with it.
Test drives welcome and encouraged, as long as you have the cash in hand and a valid license.
Please note:
Comes with a 1967 Opel Commodore A 4-door parts car (bill of sale only) with complete power train, which includes a 2.5 lite inline 6 cyl engine with 2 speed power glide transmission, column shift, 99% rust free! I personally drove the Commodore a few times before it got dismantled. No smoke, shifted well, no leaks, good power. Just the brakes were working only on front right and rear left. It has any body parts, chrome, lights, glass, instruments, power steering, etc. All and more you'd ever need to restore the Rekord or maintain it. Extra 4cyl engine with rebuilt top end! New gaskets for front and rear glass, extra side glass for 2 door sedan, as many spares (bearings, bushings, seals, ball joints, brakes) as you can carry :-))
The Rekord C shares lots of parts with the Opel GT, 1900, Kadett, Ascona, etc. So, to keep it running and safe on a daily basis, Autozone is your friend! The Opel Commodore A shares the body, glass, and interior with the Rokord, but has a beefier drive train with the 6 cylinder engine running on 14 inch wheels. Its drive train shares components with the "big" Opels, like the contemporary Kapitaen, Admiral, etc.
Payment has to be received in full and cleared by my bank before pick up.
Sold as is where is, no warranties implied or provided - it's a 50 year old car.
Buyer responsible for shipping. I will help loading as I am able to. No driving to its new home on my tags or insurance.
