1986 Opel 4 door fastback Additional Info:
1986 Opel Ascona 4 door fastback sedan - European VIN # WOL00084H1152811The Opel company was founded in 1862 as a producer of sewing machines. The first cars were produced in 1899. Opel has been owned since 1931 by GM.The car on offer here is fairly rare since not many fastback sedans were ever produced. The engine block is a GM product. GM used this OHC motor in some of its smaller size cars such as Buick Skyhawk or Pontiac GS. For these models the engine capacity was 1.8 Liters. In European trim Opel engineered some performance tweaks to that engine. It increased the engine capacity to 2 Liters, added a multi-port fuel injection, an exhaust header as well as a 5 speed manual transmission. The engine is mounted transversely. The power output was rated at 115 HP (DIN) or 127 HP (SAE). The top limit of this car was 115 MPH, the MPG was over 30 MPG!This particular car was in service to a fire brigade in a small county in Bavaria, Germany. It was the fire chiefs transportation. Fire departments all over are known to take impeccable care of their equipment. The same goes for this car. This car is in very good original condition. It has never been fully repainted. The interior is all original and has never been redone. The seat material is a grey vinyl. The front seats are individual bucket seats with nicely shaped side bolsters. The drivers seat has one small tear on the seat bottom. The rear bench seats look almost unused. The spare wheel with its mounted tire is brand new and never been on the road! All of the German emergency equipment is still with the car and in working condition such as 2 blue emergency lights and the very distinctive European siren. It is also equipped with a PA system with speakers on the roof and a (not working) emergency radio system. The reflective yellow tape on the sides of the car and the word "Feuerwehr" (fire dept.) on the back hatch and the hood give the car a very distinctive appearance. This car is very unique and rare in this country, is very economical as well as fast and is a blast to drive. This car was imported into the US in July 2012. This car has a clear Michigan title.
