The ‘back-story’ of this car
This car was originally intended as a race car replacement for my 1970 W-30 4 speed convertible, with all the race components being transferred over. After acquiring this car from the Jim Stohlman dealership where it had been traded in about 1988, the conversion was rapidly moved along about 75% complete, but then two kids came along and I no longer had time to campaign a car on the NHRA circuit. This fact also prompted the sale of my NHRA record-holding 1976 Cutlass S with the idea that the 1970 hardtop could be used as a street car and local weekend racer. The car sat inside for the next twenty years awaiting completion as a street/ strip car. By the time 2012 rolled around, this car had also become too valuable to use as a race car, so a full frame-off concours-level restoration was performed at the same shop that restored my W-30 convertible. Car finished in March 2016. 100 miles since restoration. Many components of the original race concept were de-tuned to make it fast but street-able. This is ‘stock-restored' to near concours, but is the proverbial “Wolf in sheep’s clothing”/ ‘Hang-on tight car, just, just completed, selling due to opportunity to buy bucket-list car. Early build 11/20/1969 production date.
