1978 Oldsmobile Tornado

On April 23rd of this year, I literally pulled this extremely rare Oldsmobile XS from a barn in Eastern Washington, after a 30 year nap! This amazing 78 Oldsmobile Toronado XS has but 42,500 original miles. It is one of the lowest miles and completely original XS's on the planet, period. The 1978 Toronado XS was a limited production car of just 2,453 total units. The XS package consisted of the unique, one- piece wrap around rear glass and moonroof.

• This car; This XS saw daylight for the first time in April this year after 28 years. The car was part of a large collection of 60's and 70's Cadillac's, Lincolns and two of these rare XS model Oldsmobiles. The car was trailered to Spokane where the reconditioning process began. Spark plugs were removed, Marvel Mistry oil added to the cylinders to soak while the car received a much- needed pressure washing (see photos).

During the recon process the following work was performed: Brake Master Cylinder replaced, Oil and filter change, coolant and coolant hoses replaced, fuel pump replaced, valve cover gaskets replaced, rear fuel tank lines replaced, new spark plugs, carburetor overhauled by Jeff Romane (great local technician, recommend him highly). Detailing came next, paint correction, polishing and wax. The interior needed nothing outside of a vacuuming! The trunk has not been touched, original trunk mat and spare still in place, trunk carpet is as new. Glass, chrome and stainless are all in excellent condition and original to the car. Original books and owner's manual. The car starts and runs great! No leaks, no issues. Everything on the car functions as designed with the exception of the radio antenna and fuel gauge, the clock even works! The car made its first maiden voyage after 30 years up to Arbor Crest Wineries on June 25th where the staff welcomed the old girl for photos. This is truly a unique opportunity to acquire a very rare "land yacht" from the 70's - the very essence of American opulence from that era. With only 2,453 of these Tornado's being produced it is hard to say how many have survived but in this exceptional original condition and low miles, only a handful I am sure.
