1978 Oldsmobile Tornado Brougham.
A very nice Oldsmobile offered for sale. This car has had the same California owners since 1980, possibly could be a one owner car. Mechanically sound. The car starts easily, idles smooth, shifts, steers, rides and brakes well. No noticeable leaks and does not smoke. The car just passed smog like a new car. The electricals are in very good order, the gauges all work as does the original stereo and 8 track player (the clock and antenna do not work). The heater and air-conditioning systems work, the interior fan blower works on low and medium speed; very typical of cars from this era.
The dash is in superb condition, as is most of the interior, (just the door arm-rest are cracked, and there is a small crack on one side of the dash near a speaker). The car must have been garaged kept a majority of its time. The body and frame are rust free, much of the paint seems to be original (there has been some below average paint repair around the front drivers side marker emblem; please see the pictures). Most of the factory painted pinstriping looks also to be original, the car has expected nicks, chips, scratches and some parking lot encounter dents and creases......difficult to pick up because of the white color.
Items that will need attention are a transmission mount will need to be replaced (part Westar # EM5450 out of stock at the moment), the tires on the car are the same ones that have been on the car for a long time; they are okay if you live locally and want to drive it home; otherwise not recommended to drive a high speeds or long distance without replacing them.
The car is sold as-is and as equipped. However, you are welcome to come see and/or have the car inspected before the end of the auction. Payment is due in full within seven days of the end of the auction. California buyers, and all in-state sales are subject to sales tax, doc., smog & lic. fees. In California all vehicles over ten years old are sold miles "exempt", we assume that the mileage on this car has turned over. Transportation is the responsibility of the buyer.
