1962 Oldsmobile Jetfire.The Jetfire is the worlds first turbocharged production car.This is a factory installed 4 speed original car with 46,000 miles. This is a factory 4 speed car and there were only 203 4 speed cars made in 1962. Out of those 203 there are only 3 of the 4 speed cars known to exist today. Maybe more will surface in the future. The Jetfire was a 10.25 compression engine with 6.5 lbs of boost. Under full boost that calculated to nearly 15:1 compression. To keep things safe with pump gas Oldsmobile used a water methanol injection system, called Turbo Rocket Fluid, to prevent detonation under boost. This is a fully working system restored to original specifications. This car also has the really rare 15 inch wheel option with trim rings.
The interior is all original other than the dome light and painted surfaces. I pulled all the interior out and cleaned it up really good and put it back in. The carpet was fade so recolored it with SEM flexible coatings.
This was parked in 1974 in a garage in Chicago by the original owner. I got it in 2015 and the second owner. The BMV let me keep the original 1962 title but they stamped VOID on it. I have a new Indiana title but it proves I am the second owner. I started the restoration in 2019 and finished in May 2021. I have videos of some of my restoration work on my You Tube channel. This car won best of class at the 2021 Oldsmobile nationals and also the best post war car award. In 2023 it become a Senior Preservation car after another best of class award.
It has been in Hot Rod magazine, On the cover of Antique Automobile magazine and even featured in the Journey with Olds magazine. Even featured in Ryan Brutt's book called Muscle Car Barn Finds. Also in several internet publications along the way.
Only reason I am selling is to restore my next car. I can't restore it till this one sells but I am not in a hurry either.
