1968 Oldsmobile 442 Additional Info:

1968 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible FOR SALE BY OWNER. This is 1 of only 5,142 442 Convertibles built in 1968 and one of only a few produced with this rare triple blue package..
1968 marked the new beginning for the 442 as it became a model and is disclosed in the VIN by 34467. This rare tripleblue, 442 convertible is equipped with its original numbers matching drivetrain. It has undergone a meticulous frame-off rotisserie restoration to the highest degree, which is evident in every way, complimented by its laser-straight body and beautiful original color Sapphire Blue finish.
It has show-quality panel fit, brightwork, glass and upholstery. The engine compartment and underside are mirror-ready and will handle any white-glove test. The underside of this car is just as nicely restored as the body itself as can be seen in the pictures. The cowl data tag reveals that the body was built and assembled at the Linden, NJ, plant in March 1968. It was finished in Code D Sapphire Blue with bucket seats and console in Code 943 Blue and a rare Blue Convertible top.
A W30 special performance cam shaft and 30 over pistons were installed during the original 400ci engine rebuild. The VIN number is stamped on the side of the block. All that power and torque is backed by its original restored TH400 OG transmission, and original12-bolt 3.08 posi-traction type O rear axle, all retaining their original numbers matching stamps. Trumpet exhaust tips emerge from the unmistakable 442 cut-out rear bumper. Significant options include power steering, power brakes and power top, bucket seats, console, Super Stock II wheels and courtesy lamp package. All brand new date coded glass was installed during the restoration. The original build sheet was found under the rear seat and most original papers in the glove box. What looks to be the original spare tire is still in the trunk. Since its completion the car has only been driven an estimated 500 miles to and from shows. There is an aftermarket am fm radio in the car now and I have many original parts including the original AM radio, all of which will be included with the sale of the car.
From what I was told by the last owner, I am only the 3rd owner of this car. This is an extremely nice, show quality automobile and I encourage any seriously interested buyer to view it in person. You will not be disappointed. This car is for sale as is by me the owner. I can be reached at 631-974-0022 to answer any questions. Just please leave a voice message and I will return your call asap.
