1969 Oldsmobile 442 442 Additional Info:
Here is my 1969 Olds 442 . I surely hate seeing it go because I love this ca, but things have come up and I must sell it along with much of my other cars and parts I will be listing. I've owned many classics and this car is super nice solid car that is very presentable as is but it's not a show car . Being a ASE master certified auto body tec, and restoring a few cars in the past I know what I was looking for in my personal car and that's a good solid original frame and body - this 442 has that ! Original panels front to back and original unaltered body seams !
Please ask any questions - I don't want to be boring and tell stories that are 20 pages long. I'm gonna list some solid points of the car -
original rebuilt 400G block Big valve C head, original Muncie 4 speed with good clutch - no slip or chatter . The 4 speed has reverse lockout as well which makes you put the transmission in reverse before the ignition key can be removed . The rear ended is original and is tight and has original rear sway bar and posi . Boxed control arms as well. The fram, body and floors are 95+% rust free. The interior is 90 % with its original consol, bucket seat, rally dash with gauge, but it has a aftermarket radio . Door panels and headliner original and nice .
Steering and suspension is tigh, smooth and about effortless to drive and handling is amazing for a old classic car due to the 442 suspension and disc front brakes .
Emergency brake work, tachometer is intermittent -
The exterior body and paint and trim would be a area of inprovment needed for show quality but is in decent driver shape . The car has some ding, scrape, and chips . Paint looks like a redo maybe back in the 1980s . Still looks decen, but I would redo it eventually .
Vinyl top is original and has no bubbling or blistering and car is real nice around the windows with no rust .I bought a $800 OAI dual snorkel w30 air cleaner induction system that I'm includin, along with original WZ exhaust manifold, knotched 442 valve cover, 442 4 speed original quadrajet and intak, original jack, original red air cleane, and dealer installed a/c system that was removed but comes with it . The wheels are vintage cragars with vintage bias ply tires ( old school ) that's the way I bought it . Since then I put 50 miles on the car driving it to the park a couple time, and ran, drove and handled nicely and then I noticed the power steering hose leak and parked it indoors . I'm not going to register it for this summer so what's the point of me even keeping this 442 - let someone else enjoy it as-is and maybe take it up to the next level eventually . Car isn’t torquey, quic, and super fun to drive . Sounds nice as well
I have a open title /ref and I will assist in loading the car for shipping reasons . This is a as-is sale because anything that's almost 50 years old can have problems or issues . There are no refunds of any kind . We will accept cas, or wire transfe, or certified check . Good luc, and feel free to ask any questions or check out other items . We are selling all cars and related items (parts, tool, trailer, etc .)
- Last week I took the car for a test ride - first time this year . Ran perfect and had excellent oil pressur, I went over the top of some very very crappy bumpy rail road tracks and looked down at my tach and oil pressure gauge on the ralley pack- The oil pressure went right down to nothing after the rail road tracks . Anyways I brought it home on a trailer and just like I suspected the oil pump pickup tube was laying in the bottom of the oil pan . I pulled 1 rod bearing - perfect shap, I pulled 1 main bearing and it has a light scratch or score. It’s gonna need the crank polished and re bearinged . And a new oil pump installed . I’m just gonna sell it as is to someone with a bit more time on there hands . Perfect opportunity for someone . You won’t find a more solid original 442 in this price range . Bring a trailer or I’ll helpLoad it for shipping reasons .
