1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais Additional Info:
You are looking @ my loved & cherished 1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais. I bought this car last November with the intentions of keeping it for years, but unfortunately, life happens, and I need to part with this & my 1991 Cadillac Brougham D'elegance & bring my car collection down to a "reasonable" 5.
I bought this car from the original owners son who bought the car new & kept it in 1983 & kept it in a garage & drove it very sparingly throughout it's life. The owners son was extremely meticulous with the vehicle & applied proper car to the mechanics, exterior & interior throughout the vehicles life. This is very apparent to anyone who is familiar with these vehicles & knows their usual flaws...
- Rust under either door? There is none.
- Vinyl top condition ? As good as new.
- Power antenna functions ? Perfectly.
- Dashboard clock is accurate ? Yes indeed.
- Weatherstripping ? Soft & supple.
- Under hood rubber & hoses ? Soft & perfect.
- Cruise Control ? Functions like new.
- T-Tops ? Remove flawlessly & store perfectly in their original...Most likely "unused" storage bags.
- R12 Air conditioning ? Still ice cold & actually makes you want to lower the fan after a few minutes.
- Heat ? Works like new.
- Intermittent wipers ? Work as intended as does the washer.
- Horn ? Works as intended & actually surprised me with it's clear dual trumpet sound.
Additional options...Power 6 way driver seat.Tilt steering wheel.Origanal AM/FM Cassette.Cigarette lighter.Console ashtray.Console storage spot.Lockable glove compartment.Power trunk release.Wire wheel covers.
I realize what this vehicle is & know from looking for these cars since, they do not appear in this condition on a daily basis. From behind the wheel, you would NEVER realize this is a 34 year old vehicle ! It rides down the road as smooth as it did when it was 6mos old. It stops like it should...smooth & evenly. It turns like a brand new car with even wear on all 4 tires. When your on the highway...it downshifts & upshifts with no hint the transmission is even changing gears. In the short time that I've owned it, it stays in the garage under a Covercraft car cover which goes with the car. The previous owner had a battery disconnect switch installed & that was used while it was hibernating during our east coast winter.
You are welcome to come & inspect it if you are seriously interested & will likely end up buying it if you have been looking for a clean, unmolested one. I have plenty of additional pictures & video if you do not see what you are looking for.
Good luck & happy bidding :-)
If your intentions are anything other than preserving it the way it is...Please do not tell me. This is a 34 year old "original" Cutlass & there are millions of them out there w/built up motors or otherwise butchered. I'd prefer this one is left the way it is...Pure 1983 !
If you are the winning bidder, I will help w/shipping & have been playing w/cars long enough to have learned a variety of ways to transport them. The car is currently registered & insured & I can drive it to you if you're willing to compensate me for my time as well as my trip home.
