Up for sale we have a 1970 Olds 442 Convertible. This car was stored for many year and was a Calif Car. When restored it was taken to the bare metal that was in excellent condition. We have pictures of the resto along with some history and a partial build sheet. In the paragraphs to follow we will give a brief description of the exterior, interior, and driveline of the Oldsmobile, but first we would like to tell you a little about us.
Smoky Mountain Traders is a classic car dealer in east Tennessee. We are family owned, operated, and own our entire inventory, no consignments, and only deal in muscle cars and vintage auto. You can count on us to have 70 to 80 cars at all times. We don't have a big show room that our customers would otherwise pay for. So, that's how we can sell for less than other dealers. We will start with the exterior of the 442. When you look down the sides you will see an arrow straight body that has excellent fit of all the panels with symmetrical gaps all the way around. It was repainted in the Burnished Gold which is the factor color for it. The paint on this '70 is slick as glass and is accented by the Power Convertible Tan Top and the factory style side stripes. We believe that most of the trim on this car is factory, and it's in great condition. Both front and rear bumpers are also in great condition. Also, the dual side mirrors and chrome tips are very nice. The glass on this 442 is in excellent condition and the windows go up and down as they should. To finish off the exterior it's sitting on a set of Factory Rallyes with rings, caps, and Firestone Wide Oval Tires.
Next, we will look at the interior of this Convertible. When you open the doors, you'll see the interior is done in the correct color combo as well. The 979 Saddle color combo is the perfect complement to the exterior scheme. It has the front bucket seats and console with the His and Her shifter. All the padding in the seats are great along with the seat covers. The door panels are also in great condition and feature the woodgrain trim. All the interior lights are working in this 442 from the glove box to the console. Looking at the dash all the gauges are working and the dash pad is in great condition. This '70 has a tilt column with the sport wheel, and the radio has been upgraded. Also, it has been upgraded with Air Condition and it has the center vent with controls.
Finally, we will get to the driveline of the Oldsmobile. It features the 455 Engine that's mated to the matching number 400 Turbo Trans and a 12 Bolt Rear End. The engine is set up with the correct style Intake and '70 Model Quadrajet Carb. It's dressed in the stock style valve covers and breather. For exhaust it has manifolds, dual pipes, and Flowmaster Mufflers. This 442 has had the Air Conditioner added, but it also comes with Power Steering and Power Brakes with Disc up front and drums out back. When you look under it all the floors and frame look excellent and appear rock solid.
