Up for auction is a very nice, original 1993 Nissan 300ZX Convertible. Between 1993 and 1996 (4 production years) Nissan manufactured and exported to the US at total of 3,846 300ZX convertibles. This is one of those cars. As you can see, the car is the sought after red and black combination with a 5 speed manual transmission. I am the fourth owner of this car and the ownership history can be provided for the 2nd and 3rd owner (brother and sister). The car was originally purchased by the second owner's employer.
The car was originally shipped to Maryland but soon moved to sunny southern California. In approximately 2005 when the car was gifted between siblings, the car took residence in the Silicon Valley of Northern California until early this year when I purchased the car and immediately drove it back to where she belongs in San Diego. The car has zero rust. It does not leak a drop of anything other than water from the condenser should you choose to use the fully functioning A/C.
I have been an avid car enthusiast for 35 years and I must say this car is an all time favorite. I had an 84 Turbo back in the day but moved on to Corvettes and other muscle cars. I never forgot my Z and how impressive it was to drive. This car is no different. The T3000 pulls effortlessly through the gears and the car rides like it is on rails and carved from titanium. Light and nimble, easy to drive and park. Top goes up and down easily (it is manual and can be done by one person). This car has led a gentle life owned by careful people that never abused, raced, modified or otherwise neglected her.
This car is comfortable with the top up or down. With the top up, there is no overbearing wind noise. With the top down, you can still carry on a conversation as the car is so well designed the wind circulates around the cockpit and not through it. A big difference...
The exterior of the car is in good condition for its age. Most of the car sports original paint. I had the nose and the rockers painted as there were stone chips and a few scuffs that I thought better removed. The body below the lower belt line is the stock, rough finish. It does appear that the passenger fender was also repainted at one time but no bolts have been turned anywhere on the body indicating that no accident ever occurred. Clean Carfax! There are some light scratches and a few chips around the car as well as a few very shallow dings. These dings were shallow enough that my dent guy did not even bother with them.
The interior is equally as nice with the dash, console, and door panels being flawless. No scratches, cracks, nothing. The seats are in very good condition. There was one small tear in the drivers seat that I had repaired. I am not happy with the way it turned out and thought seriously of doing suede inserts on both seats to match the dash and door panels but decided against it because the car is just that original. This will be a decision for the next owner.
The top is in very good shape with no rips, tears, holes, ordiscolorations. The plastic rear windows are a little fogged and scratched. No holes or cracking. I thinkthey could be cleaned better and I may mess with it a bit during the auction time. I am not sure what that little brown kitty face is in the side rear window pic. It is not on the car, will probably put the top up to see but as a rule the top stays down. The car is always garaged and appears to have been garaged its entire life.
The engine bay is clean and stock with all decals and laminates in place. The trunk is clean. Brakes, shocks, struts, bushings, all good. No creaks, rattles, or groans.
everything works on this car... everything!
equipment includes:
I added the black matte 19 inch staggered wheels and tires as I never liked the stock directional wheels that came standard. I do have the original wheels, they are perfect, with new tires. These wheels and tires are also included with the sale.
The car has a very fair reserve set as the car is for sale here, not for show and tell.
My passion is cars, and I will miss this one. My true joy, though, is in the thrill of the chase. I have a select list of cars I look for and search the country to find them. I know it will be years until I find a 300zx convertible as nice as this car. Buy with confidence, fly into sunny San Diego, spend the weekend and drive her home.... anywhere.
