CERTIFIED FACTORY RECORD BY BRITISH MOTOR INDUSTRY HERITAGE TRUST
We bought this car in in Buffalo, NY in September of 2020 as a gift for my mother's 70th birthday.
After 5 years of having fun on winding roads in Southern NH, we've decided it's time to find Eunice a new home.
We had to do very little to keep her on the road the last 5 years. We had the head gasket replaced in July, 2022 and replaced brakes/brake hoses along the way, the records of which will transfer to the next owner. She is in great shape!
For more information on the origins of the car, I will include the description of the 2020 sale below:

This 1962 Morris Mini Cooper 997 was one of around 3,000 cars made for export. This left hand drive example was originally delivered to France and spent some time in Canada before winding up in upstate New York.

It appears to have all original sheet metal, with the exception of the bonnet, which is a one piece fiberglass flip front. There are new Cibie H4's and wiring with relays for auxiliary lighting is in place. The floor pans are all original and one rocker is original- the other has an overrider welded in place.

This car has never been restored. The amazing condition of most of the bodywork, leads me to believe this car was used for racing for a time, before returning to road duty.

There is a period water transfer decal from the early days of Watkins Glen, still intact and the rare, from what I am told, Canadian- solid red taillights. Both of these lend credence to the history of the car. Unfortunately, the previous owner knew nothing about the cars past.

All the cooper details are still present; the factory cut out and blanking plate for the remote shift, 7" disc brakes on the front, original narrow rear drums swapped to the wider S type, chrome window trim, boot board, trunk board, mount for electric fuel pump and the 100 mph speedo.

Unfortunately, somewhere along the cars journey, the original 997 engine was lost. Currently there is a Canadian 998 in the car. I removed the head and checked the bores- they're like new. I had the legendary Keith Calver build me a stage three head for the car along with a 997 cam and a new electronic distributor to match the torque curve of the camshaft.

I also added two new su carbs, intake, header and exhaust. The carbs are running fatter needles- but if I keep the car I may go up another size- or down. Either way, car runs amazingly well. Starts first turn of the key, hot or cold and has incredible oil pressure- 70 at idle.

The binacle was modified for four gauges and there is oil pressure, voltage, oil temperature and water temperature. Three of the four are capillary gauges and are all working properly.

Oddly, this car doesn't leak oil! Maybe the only English car I have owned that doesn't leak and for sure the only classic mini I have seen that doesn't leak.

The interior was redone at some point, with black bucket seats, black carpet, mats and headliner. The black painted rollbar is bolted to the floor and there is a Leston wheel in the car which appears to have little wear. The dash was signed by Paddy Hopkirk at Watkins Glen in 2018.

The underside of the car has never been touched. I believe somewhere in its racing past, someone welded chassis stiffeners to the underside- which are very functional. NO holes anywhere in the floor of this car. There are some small patches in the rockers, but as stated- one of the rockers is still original and in great shape.

Originally Surf Blue- this car has many different colors under the current British Racing Green. I would guess the car was painted 20 years ago- but I have no evidence other than the nice condition of the paint and good patina throughout. There is some crazing in the paint on the fiberglass front end and a few small chips on the car.

The 100+ wheels are in great condition, with nice patina and new Yokohama rubber. A front end alignment was completed after replacing ball joints and tie rod ends; tracks straight and true.

I also recently replaced the clutch, clutch rod, throw out bearing, slave and master cylinder. A NOS KAD shifter is installed.

A clean, transferable title in my name along with the heritage certificate is included in the sale.

All in all, a very solid driver- we have taken it on several trips without issue- with fantastic patina. One could do as I did and preserve it, or if one wished to restore it fully, the foundation is excellent.

New KYB Gas adjust shocks, sport cones and Hi-Los installed last year.
