This 1968 Innocenti Mini 850 is a left-hand-drive example that was originally white and was built in Italy under license from the British Motor Corporation. The car was refurbished in the 2016 with work involving a repaint of the exterior and partial interior in green with an off-white roof. The refurbishment in 2016 also included replacement of driveshaft seals, brakes, steering rack and ball joint refurbishments, and more.
According to a sales spec sheet by a selling dealer in 2016, this 1968 example was said to have made its way to Germany before being registered in The Netherlands in 1997, where it remained garaged an unused for almost 20 years.
Body-colored period Cooper style 10″ steel wheels feature polished hub caps and are mounted with 165/70 Yokohama Advan HF Type-D A-008 tires. The original set of five 10” steel wheels wrapped with 145/80 Goodyear GT80 tires will also be included in the sale. A spare side mirror and an extra fuel cap in body color are included.
Stopping power is provided by drum brakes at all four corners. Before being imported into the United States in 2023, this mostly original MK1 had six brake cylinders replaced.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in black vinyl. Amenities include sliding front and pop-out rear windows along with a heater, three-point front seatbelts, and rubber floor mats.
A Momo steering wheel frames a centrally located three-pod instrument cluster houses a 150 km/h Veglia Borletti speedometer and supplemental gauges for fuel level and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 23k kilometers (~14k miles).
The 848cc A-series inline-four is fitted with a sidedraft SU carburetor and produces 36 HP with a factory declared top speed of 78mph. A Tudor Lavaparabrezza Inteuropa windshield washer fluid reservoir is installed within the engine bay.
Power is delivered to the front wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.
This Mk I 850 produced by Innocenti in Milan, Italy features a black vinyl interior with a Momo steering wheel and a heater, while additional equipment includes a four-speed manual transaxle, 10” 1960’s Cooper steel wheels, and a side mirror. This Mk I Innocenti Mini is now offered in New Jersey with a clean title in the owner’s name.
Innocenti-built Minis are distinguished from contemporary BMC-produced cars by an Innocenti-specific grille, boot lid, badging, and front quarter-lights.
