1987 Austin Classic Mini Rare Import
Ebay is not recognizing the foreign Vin No. So here it is:SABTVR0382152191. This Mini was my personal car in the United Kingdom and I imported it myself in January of 2016. Currently located in Tennessee with a clear TN Title. This car is not re-vined.
The interior is in good shape! The interior was redone at some point prior to my ownership and included new carpet and new seat belts with a matching blue steering wheel. A flip up CD/DVD player was also added. Other than that, the interior is the way it came from the factory. The driver’s seat does have a stain on it.
The exterior of the Mini is in OK shape. There is bubbles on the paint and the paint is faded. It would benefit from a strip down and repaint. The doors are crusty, but I have 2 decent used doors that I will throw in with the purchase. I just don’t have the time to swap them over, but its not a hard job. All the doors, windows and glass open and close like they should. The Mini does not have any major dents or dings.Wheels are decent, but tires should be replaced soon. They are super cheap!
Mechanically, the car is very sound! It drives straight as an arrow and does not pull to any side. The car drives great and it is a blast. When I was in England, I swapped out the old points ignition to an electronic one. This made starting and driving (especially in the rain) easier. The engine does not shake, vibrate or make any weird noises! Occasionally when shifting hard, there is grinding between 2nd and 3rd. If shifting easily, it doesn’t happen. It has been this way since I bought it.
The car as far as I know does not need any immediate attention. It might need minor stuff here and there. These cars are very easy to work on and mini mania and 7 mini both have all the parts you need for it.
I bought this car for my wife and as I am now living back in the UK, I found her a left hand drive Mini. The only reason I am selling it is because I need to pay for shipping over the other mini.
I have tried to describe the mini to the best of my ability; I might be pickier than some but not as bad as others. This is a decent mini for the year and would make a great daily driver. Not perfect by any means. But it is definitely in good shape. I suggest that if you want to buy this car that you look at it in person. A mini if not for everyone. They will get A LOT of attention. I had 5 offers to buy it when we trailered it back from the port. At the local Cars and Coffee, it received more attention than some of $100K cars in attendance.
Please remember that this is 30 year old British car, they require attention from time to time. It is NOT a gas and go car. This is a perfect candidate for a rolling restoration. Improve it while you drive it!
Mini is located in Greeneville, TN (halfway between Knoxville and Johnson City, TN)
