1947 MG T-Series Additional Info:
A very nice 1947 MG TC. Matching numbers. It has been a pleasure to own and drive this car. This car was garage found in 2010 after spending many years in the garage of a local television personality. This was his baby and drove it for decades before he put it away into storage. It was woken up by a well known car restoration shop in Albany, NY and was featured in one of Hemming's magazines. It was seen there and bought by a man from NYC who treated this car to a re-paint, a 5-speed gearbox, the common Volkswagen steering box upgrade, tires, canvas convertible top, shocks, springs, bushings and wheels. I bought this car in 2014 to complete my post-war MG collection( I have them all). I had always wanted a TC. This proved to be a great driver. I installed a new stainless steel exhaust, but otherwise have done nothing but maintain the car. It is part of a 25 car driving collection. I am beginning to change my focus, so the TC, TD, and TF are up for grabs. So are a few others...
OK, details. The interior is period. I find it hard to believe that it could be original, but it is definitely old. It is holding up well. The seats and panels are tan with green piping. There is a new black carpet installed. All gauges and directionals work with the exception go the speedo. The previous owner did not connect this when he did the 5-speed conversion but all the parts are there and it can hooked up. Never bothered me. The convertible top is a high quality sunfast black canvas. Several wire wheels were replaced with new ones and new tires, a few were sent to hendrix wire wheel for truing. They all work great. no issues there. The paint is not the best paint job, but very nice for a driver. some small chips and imperfections from use. This car spent last summer in an exhibit at the Saratoga Automobile Museum, so clearly she is presentable.
This car is located in Saratoga Springs, NY. 3 hours from NYC, Boston, and Montreal. This car has spent nearly its entire life up here. I will furnish the new owner with the past 3 previous owners details. I will be happy to arrange for showing and driving as part of this sale. I also can transport this car to the new owner within a 200 or so miles for the cost of Gas and tolls. I will also assist in export if this car is leaving the country. My telephone number is (516)978-6161. This is the bast way to reach me. Thanks! Doc Martin
