BEAUTIFULLY RESTORED 1972 MGB GT
I purchased the car in April of 2019. The previous owner performed a full mechanical restoration including rebuilding the engine. The previous owner also performed other modifications including adding the faux fender vents, shaving the rear bumper, repainting the body in red, installing Miata RX5 front seats, and removing the rear bench. The front wings (fenders) are all metal, not fiberglass. The Moss Motors sourced A/C unit was also installed by the previous owner. The center console has been trimmed in a nice black leather.
The wiring was a mix of original and various "fixes" when I purchased it. Many electrical things did not work or terminate, and fixing one seemed to only cause another issue to present itself. Therefore, in the spring of 2020 all of the wiring was stripped out and replaced with a brand new KwikWire harness.
The door buzzers, rear defroster, and brake warning indicator switch were not wired and are non-functional. The parking brake cable is stretched and does not engage the rear drums enough to serve any practical purpose.
Mechanically, the car is solid. The engine is peppy, the T9 transmission has no issues cruising at highway speeds, and the A/C blows cold. While the A/C does bog the engine while sitting at idle, assistance from the choke gives the engine the extra push it needs until moving once again.
The speedometer was upgraded last year to a GPS-based unit. Other gauges are AutoMeter brand. The clock hands have stopped turning but you can hear it ticking. Not sure if that can be fixed or not. The Boost gauge was installed by the PO, and I believe it measures manifold vacuum pressure.
The car also features a Pertronix electric ignition system and a Flame Thrower coil. The original halogen headlights will be included with purchase, but were upgraded to LED lights when the rest of the electrical wiring was redone.
Actual mileage is unknown, I've put just over 1k miles on it since I purchased it. The sale also includes a floor jack, full-size spare, and various MGB literature/service manuals.
This MG is a joy to drive, drawing stares, smiles, and comments from onlookers every time I drive it.
