This beauty is a fine example of a classic MGA professionally mechanically restored to handle the road like a new car, but yet keeping it's originality. I hate to use the term "barn find" but this truly was.........this car was originally from California and belonged to a family friend who stored it for 40 years in a heated garage on blocks under sheets. In November 2017, I pulled the car out after it's 40 year slumber and sent it to be professionally restored by Tuxedo Motors in Tuxedo, NY, the same shop that was commissioned in 1979 by British Leyland to restore a 1949 MGTC for the "win a classic" campaign here in the USA. The original 1600 4 cylinder engine, carborator and transmission have been completely rebuilt and rewired and driven only 250 miles since. Receipts and documentation for the entire restoration are available and included, as almost $30,000 was spent earlier this year. I can email copies of the receipts to anyone interested. There is all new wiring throughout, and the brakes have been completely redone, and a new soft top has been installed. I also have a brand new tonneau cover which has been professionally fitted to the car. Brand new side curtains are included. In addition, all the chrome has been replaced or restored, including brand new wire wheels on brand new tires. During the restoration my focus was on making the car mechanically perfect and safe to drive anywhere. I kept the original leather interior, which was professionally cleaned and treated, but I added seat belts for safety. Frame is in excellent condition with no rust or damage as you can see by the pictures (California car!). The paint is original, and looks good, although it has some flaws in some areas due to the age of the vehicle, like on body under driver door if you inspect closely. There are some chips that have been touched up and an area of the right front fender where the paint flaked off where it has been touched up. Most of the paint is in good condition. Most importantly for enjoyment, mechanically, the car is absolutely perfect and can be driven anywhere. In fact, it was just taken to the MGA event on September 16 at the Vanderbuilt Mansion in Centerport, NY (about an hour drive) and drove great. This is a perfect car to enjoy driving with the top down. I also have a super rare British Motor Corporation radio which was professionally restored by a company in California which redid the inside of the unit.......so it looks old from the outside but actually has modern electronics, AM/FM and an aux jack for your ipod, etc. and upgraded speakers. I have also upgraded to brand new 72 spoke chrome (not painted) wire wheels and new tires and brakes. Why am I selling? I was planning on keeping this car forever which is why I made the huge financial commitment to restore it. Unfortunately, I just went through a retina detachment and 4 surgeries leaving me unable to safely drive. The car is kept in a climate controlled garage in Jamaica Estates, New York, a suburb of New York City along with my other classics which unfortunately I will have to sell. I would of course invite anyone to privately inspect the car, or I can do a whats app video call if it is impossible for you to do so. You may also message me with any questions and if you provide your email, I can email you the copies of the invoices. The reserve has been lowered to a reasonable number for immediate sale.
