1964 MG MGB Additional Info:
Relisting for the third time due to another show buyer. I WILL NOT END the listing early unless your cash is in my hands. This is a no excuses, original California Black Plate, beautifully restored MGB Roadster. It's titled as a 1964 but the Chassis number shows it to be a 1963. The car has it's original body panels and aluminum hood with a minimal amount of body filler consistent with a restoration paint job. Absolutely no rust anywhere, the original battery tray, the first thing to rust out on these cars is there. Base coat/clear coat paint. Looking down the side of the car it's flat and straight with no dips or waves in the paint or panels. The engine is a 1965 five main bearing engine that was used to replace the less reliable original three main bearing engine. The car is not represented as a completely period correct car. Some of the period correct replacement parts are no longer available.
Mechanicals:Everything that could be rebuilt was or it was replaced with either NOS or reproduction parts. Complete engine rebuild with new pistons, bearings, oil pump, camshaft, seals and gaskets, cylinder head was magnafluxed for cracks and rebuilt with new hardened valve seats for unleaded gas, New valves, springs and keepers. New oil cooler and hoses, New radiator, thermostat,hoses and heater valve and cable. New SU Carburetors with springs, linkages and hoses. All new control cables. Stainless steel exhaust system. Completely new fuel system including fuel tank, sender, SU fuel pump and fuel pipes and hoses. New clutch, throw out bearing, input shaft bushing, clutch master cylinder and hoses. New transmission seals and syncros. New drive shaft universal joints. Rear differential was disassembled cleaned, inspected and reassembled with new gaskets and axle seals. Completely new brake system including master cylinder, hydraulic piping, calipers, pads, shoes and brake cylinders. Rebuilt lever arm shock absorbers, rebuilt king pins, new front coil springs, new rear leaf springs, new suspension bushings and new sway bar, bushings and links. New wiring harness, tachometer and speedometer rebuilt and calibrated by Nisonger Instruments. The speedometer odometer was set to zero and the mileage showing is the actual mileage since the restoration.

All new interior including carpet, seat foams, leather seat covers, seat belts, interior panels, door pulls, window winders, new walnut runners under seat slides (this is one of the few MG's that you can actually move the seats forward and aft easily, I spent a full day straightening the metal slides and refitting them) The top is the only thing that I would replace on the car. It's functional and looks ok but it's the cheapest one you can buy. The original BMC pack away top frame was chemically stripped and repainted the correct medium gray and new snaps installed.
Included are the original Banjo steering wheel and center along with the Moto Lita wood steering wheel and center currently installed, original BMC tools and BMC tool pouch, the original BMC jack and storage pouch, the original BMC top frame pouch, an original BMC Tonneau Cover although the snaps for it are not installed on the car, original unused Michelin spare tire on the original painted wire wheel, original California Black License Plates, a new California Car Cover indoor cover and a new laminated wood wheel spinner removal tool.
The car was restored in California by a gentleman who does it for a profession, not a hobby. I purchased the car after the restoration and had it shipped to North Carolina. I do not have the receipts for the restoration but an inspection of the car will verify that it's a first class job.When I purchased the car, It had a cheap set of Cooper tires. I replaced these with a new set of Vredstein Sprint Classic tires in the correct 165/14 size. Hendrix Wire Wheels in Greensboro NC trued the wire wheels, installed new Michelin inner tubes, mounted and balanced the tires. Hendrix is the premier wire wheel specialist in the US. This in conjunction with the new suspension makes the car drive and handle better than new. I have replaced the incorrect door cappings with the correct ones for a pull handle car. Most of the pictures are of the car in California because they were professionally done and the camera on my phone can't come close to them. I have included three current pictures to show the car in North Carolina, the Moto Lita steering wheel and correct door capping and the new Vredsein tires. The car is still identical to the California pictures with those exceptions.
The car looks, runs, drives and handles like a new car. I've tried to represent the car as honestly as I could. Everything works. My first car in 1975 was a 1970 MGB GT. I have owned over a dozen and restored five since then. This car is by far the nicest one I've ever seen. I welcome and recommend a pre sale inspection. Please do not expect to buy the car on Ebay and then renegotiate the price afterwards. I will assist in delivering the car to your shipping company. I will not pay for the shipping. I will entertain "reasonable" offers. Certified bank check and cash are the only payment accepted, period.
