1964 MG MGB Additional Info:
This is a 1964 MGB Mk 1 roadster in good driver condition whose mechanics have been extensively restored or upgraded for modern convenience. This is a "pull handle" vehicle with a metal dash. I have entered the current odometer reading in the description, but would not vouch for it, given the long history of the vehicle.
The car has been converted to negative ground, hence a new alternator was installed, along with a new, period-correct, voltmeter. There is a single 12volt battery in the car. Also a trickle charger is on board in the trunk. A power-off "kill" switch has been installed behind the driver's position.
The engine is not original to the vehicle, being the 5 bearing version, and the engine's serial number is consistent with the first of the MGB 5 bearing engines. Within the past 15 months, the engine has been completely rebuilt: new 30 over 8.75:1 pistons and rings (and engine block cleaning and boring), crank polished, new rod and main bearings (standard), new high lift cam, new cam followers, new timing chain and tensioner, new water and oil pumps, head redone, guides checked, balanced, new clutch assembly, new front and rear oil seals, all new gaskets, rings individually hand fitted and clearanced to bores. New exhaust manifold. Mileage since the rebuilt is less than 500 miles.
A 5 speed Ford T9 transmission has been installed. A Weber carburetor with electronic choke has been installed along with an electronic solid state ignition.
The car has a new radiator (with an extra, electronically switchable fan) and a new gas tank. All new brakes: new calibers in the front only; new pads front and rear. New or rebuilt shocks all round. New fuel pump, new clutch master and slave cylinders.
The electronics of the car have been entirely overhauled with a new period-correct, wiring harness. All gauges work. New convertible roof. Painted wire wheels and knock-off hubs. Spare tire. New radio with bluetooth and USB. New carpets. Vinyl seats.
New windshield glass was installed 12 months ago.
Condition of the body: there is no sign of rust, aside from the passenger side battery bay, which is not being used. Otherwise, no sign of rust on top or underneath. Paint condition is good, there is some flaking and a few scratches. The passenger side floor pan is new, the driver side is original. On the passenger side door there are some minor dimples in the panel. The dash shows signs of wear from the last 50 years. The seats are ok. The clear plastic rear-view window is clear with no cloudiness or yellowing.
Original style steering wheel. Tires are new and have less than 500 miles on them. Speedometer has been overhauled. Mostly new bulbs in the car, including the headlights.
