1974 MG MGB B Additional Info:
WAY too many modifications and restorations have been done to this sweet little daily driver, but I will try.
First of all, I bought this car not long ago because my initials are MGB and I was born in 1974. But, I must pass this one along for now as I am in the midst of a real estate purchase and need the funds. After driving it almost daily (instead of my 2016 luxury SUV), I know I will be looking for another in the not-so-distant future.
The previous owner provided decades of records (which I will pass on to you) and had over $10,000 invested in the last few years. NEW EVERYTHING!
This classicMGB has a nice custom/modern look with the matte black windshield surround, air dam, and interior. I cannot drive it without being barraged by compliments!
The previous owner had it for over 30 years from what I see. He had the entire engine rebuilt less this past year and added a new head from Moss (the MGB parts store online) with revised combustion chambers, hardened valve seats/guides, polished ports, etc (see photo). It came with the sought after Tourist Trophy stainless header and exhaust system (also pictured). The ignition was replaced with the Pertronix Flame Thrower coil and electronic distributor. An upgraded aluminum radiator was added with auxiliary electronic fan. (Great for rush hour stand-still traffic.)
You can eat off this engine. Clean!
New floor pans had been installed and the frame seems completely rust free (see underside photo). The interior and top were also completely replaced. They both look fantastic!
Extremely well done bright LED lighting under hood, in the trunk, and in the interior. LED strips are hidden well and clearly light up each part of the vehicle effectively.
I added a Sony stereo with Bluetooth, USB port (for charging your phone), detachable face, and remote control. The front speakers are Sony Explod 4-1/2" triaxial and the rear are Sony Xplod 6"x9" triaxials in professional enclosures. I also added an 8" SAS Bazooka subwoofer in the trunk - which sits nicely next to the spare tire. The sound is well balanced and "full" - even at highway speed with the top down. (The deck is 4 x 55 watts and the subwoofer is 150 watts, I believe.)
I have installed the Sebring "Works" style clear headlight covers and hood (bonnet) strap (see photos - some of the later ones show these). I striped the car with matte black vinyl - which can easily be removed if you don't like the look.
The alloy valve cover and K&N cold air intake system were added in the last two weeks. The car runs nicely with traffic and has no problem getting up to speed.
This 1974 MGB has the desirable metal bumpers and a beautiful gold or yellow paint job with a nice metallic depth to it. It shows nicely! (The bumper over-riders are like new and come with the car - should you want to re-install them. It just looks clean and flush without them. This was the last of the MGB's with the British ride height andmetal bumpers. In late 1974 they raised the car 1" and added large rubber bumpers to meet U.S. standards.)
PLEASE NOTE: The mileage is an estimate. Again, the engine was completely rebuiltthis year (see receipts)and the previous owner replaced the gauges with a modern Auto Meter set.
*I just added a few photos of recent receipts for the engine work in the last year. I also added one from back in 2001to show it has had thesame owner. He had the car for almost all of its years.I also wanted to add that the tires still have those rubber "hairs" on them. Really fresh. I recently installed new plugs, wires, fan belt, and distributor cap.
This MGB is "the one". It really has almost everything new... and comes with a Master lock ("club") for the steering wheel to protect it.
***MANY more records come with the car showing its service history.. I only took pictures of a few that show the recent engine rebuild.***
