1974 MGB GT. This iconic British Sports Car is a Complete, Original Matching Numbers Car that was recently brought out of long-term storage. A true Barn Find, that deserves a full restoration.
The car has a lot of potential, and with some work & TLC could be a great little car for the enthusiast. These MGB GT’s are quickly becoming very collectible, and I believe 1974 was the last year for export to the USA. There were only around 3400 imported to the US in 1974.In my opinion this one is worth restoring.
Original Factory Color White, over an AutumnLeaf Tan Interior,The interior of the car is in good condition for the year, especially considering it was in storage for many years. The seats are good with only one or two small holes that look like cigarette burn holes. The steering column shroud is missing a few screws to tighten it up, there are the typical cracks in the dash pad, and some electrics/wiring still need sorting out, lights etc. I believe there is a slow drain on the battery so I disconnect it when not using the car.
Car has New master cylinders both for the brakes, and clutch with new clutch slave cylinder also. New fuel pump and gas tank has been cleaned. The car starts, runs, drives, shifts gears and stops. Some adjustment still needed in the brakes to make them tighter. Having them bled one more time would help. Same with the new clutch cylinder. Good compression in the engine, fires up first time and a blast to drive. Needs new exhaust/muffler. It is blown, so is loud, but drives fine as is.
The body could be said to be the worst part of the car, although in my opinion it has a cool patina over most of the exterior. There are some corrosion areas,(As pictured)in driver rear rocker, pass front floor area, and front wheel well areas that will need work if restoring. Nothing is structural that I can see, just cosmetic. Generally, the rust is only surface rust that can be taken care of when preparing for paint, but there are some small & large rust thru holes as seen in the photos. Looks to have had a small bump in the back below the tail gate, but could be pulled out. Bumpers and chrome all in great shape, as is all the glass.Has all original 4-wire wheels with knock off tool to remove them. The tires will probably need replacing as they look old, and one has slow leak.
Miscellaneous parts, trim, and carpet pieces that I am not sure where they goincluded in the sale.
