*Black-Plate California Car*
*Two Owner Car With All Known History From New*
*Originally A Factory Black Car*
In 1955, the MG company unveiled a grand departure from their traditional sports car with the completely new MGA. While few models were sold in the UK, the cars were a great success in the US market and ushered in an era of affordable and stylish British roadsters. By 1959, the line had progressed to include the 1600 (seen here) which included upgrades to the engine and brakes.
The car seen here is a very well maintained example that makes a striking impression. Purchased new in California by the 1st of two owners, it spent the majority of its life as a reliable, near-daily driver in black paint and wearing black plates. When the owner passed away, his step-son inherited the car and stored it near San Francisco for a short time before selling it in 1996.
The second (and last) owner brought the car to her new home on the Colorado high-plains and drove her sparingly, and lovingly, to events around the state.
This car comes available with the original California black plates, drivers' handbook, side curtains and more. Meticulous record keeping is evident dating back to 1979 for orders performed by MG and British specialists in Colorado and California. The tasteful restoration and repaint was done to preserve the car before it deteriorated, and factory gaps are evident all around.
