1951 MG T-Series Additional Info:
This is a 1951 MG TD. I got it recently up in the Northwest with some other cars. Before I put t away in long term storage with about 10 other cars I want to get back on the road again for myself, I will list it here n Ebay. If it sells fine, if it does not, great. It is that kind of car. This TD has been off the road and in indoor storage for the last 6 years or so. Before that it was in Santa Rosa,California.Where evidently the previous owners had restored it.And then drove it as there is some signs of use .Chipped paint here and there, some flaws in the paint. But this body is a beauty. No signs of rust on chassis,on tub, sheetmetal, etc. It is a knockout. I have had probably over 50 TDs in my life, Parted out over half and pulled them apart bolt by bolt to do so.I doubt I have seen any as nice as this one is in the rust department. And I have never had one that has what this one has. A Ford Pinto 2 liter engine with 4 speed tranny. Yep, a Pinto engine. But before you laugh, gag, make funny faces, spill your tea and generally besmirch this fine machine, think about almost twice the power, better transmission and ease of maintenance on the Ford engine. The thing runs like a top, And gets off the line much quicker and smoother than the 1250 TD . The side curtains are in great shape, the tam or tonneau cover is canvas and fairly new. As is most of the interior panels, door cards, side curtain box cover .The dash has been updated with modern oi, volts and water gauges with everything else stock TD. Looks like the speedo was redone as it is 0 miles. And does not work as it is not hooked up to the Ford tranny. Same as the Tac, All new dash and engine wiring . The dash has been refinished. The period correct Aamco side wind visors and drivers side shaded sunvisor are in nice shape. The white softop is in great shape. The chrome is in pretty nice shape. Grille is in nice shape and vintage radiator cap thermostat are as well. Some pitting due to being near the Coast, but overall pretty good. Worst part is rear left side bumper. Chrome has flaked off so either rechrome or replace. All 5 wheels are knockoff chrome wires that looks fairly new. There is a `small gas leak on the bottom left side of gas tank. Behind the chrome side panel somewhere. Probably at the seam. Long time sitting in storage and all. It did not leak when I picked up the car last week. The bouncing around on my trailer may have loosened it up. Very small drip that most people would not mention in their ads, but I like to try and tell it as it is.So the tank should be resealed along with boiling from sitting in storage. Overall, this is a beautiful, rustfree, well maintained TD that would be hard to duplicate for twice or triple the money. If the Ford drivetrain does you in, drop a stock TD drivetrain in and you will have a show winner. But don't knock this drivetrain until you have tried it. You will be surprised. I travel around the West Coast with my truck and trailer and might be able to get it to you or close for reasonable money. . And can arrange trucking to Long Beach California shippers for overseas buyers for $300. Clean straight title.$1000 deposit required within 24 hours of auction end. Full payment due with 7 days
